The opportunity…

This is a permanent, full-time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The Housing Operations branch plays a critical role in ensuring effective management of over 900 community housing units across 14 communities, territory wide. The branch is responsible for the day-to-day operations related to community housing, including lease management, rent collection, and support services to tenants to help them maintain their tenancies successfully.

Reporting to the Manager, Housing Programs this position will oversee staff working to provide tenancy supports in Whitehorse. This includes staff providing general customer services at the Yukon Housing Corporation (YHC) main office, as well as staff providing case management to individuals residing in YHC units. The Supervisor, Whitehorse Housing works collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure units are allocated, maintained and managed as per the policies and practices of the Housing Operations Branch.

Essential Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in social sciences, business or a relevant discipline
  • Experience leading a team including providing direction and performance feedback
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment with diverse client groups, preferably with vulnerable populations, using case management principles
  • Decision making skills that demonstrate the ability to be consistent and responsive while balancing the needs of client, program, communities and government
  • Experience at the community level in building relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders

Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative, brainstorm and implement solutions
  • Can work independently and flexibly in an environment that requires continuous monitoring and reprioritizing of priorities
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • A solid understanding of both procurement and finance processes

Conditions of employment:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Valid security clearance including vulnerable sector
