The opportunity…

This position reports to the Director of Regulatory Services and is responsible for promoting and verifying compliance with the requirements of the Liquor Act, Cannabis Control & Regulation Act, liquor and cannabis Regulations, and Cannabis/Board/Yukon Liquor Corporation (YLC) policies, assisting licence and liquor permit applicants in understanding the legislative and policy requirements.

  • Knowledge and understanding of enforcement responsibilities as defined in legislation.
  • Experience understanding, applying, and interpreting legislation and or regulations.
  • Experience navigating complex challenges and providing support to a team/stakeholder.
  • Experience providing guidance, advice, and support to various audiences.
  • Experience conducting worksite inspections would be an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional information

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Clear criminal records check. - including a vulnerable sectors check.
  • Valid Yukon Class 5 driver's licence.

Job requirements:

You must be willing to communicate with and provide services to clients demonstrating challenging and at times violent and verbal abusive behaviors. During work hours you may be exposed to and deal with significant work hazards and stressful situations, such as intoxicated patrons; noisy, dark and poorly ventilated premises.

  • Willingness and ability to work in, and travel to, Yukon communities in all seasons, approximately 10-15 times a year (from 2 to 14 days) by aircraft or vehicle.
  • The position consistently is required to perform evening inspections of licensed premises alone and on a regular basis which requires working late evenings, until after midnight and on weekend shifts & statutory holidays.
