Position Summary:

Join the City of Regina's Communications & Engagement team as an Event Specialist for a term opportunity for up to 3 years!

In this role, you'll create impactful corporate and public events that elevate the City's reputation and enhance our vibrant community. You'll also lead engaging internal events focused on employee recognition, diversity, and inclusion, contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Collaborating with community partners, you'll play a key role in placemaking and City participation in major city-wide events. If you're a skilled project manager with a flair for creativity, strong relationship-building skills, and thrive under tight deadlines, we'd love to see how you can bring our events to life!

Key Duties:

  • Oversee corporate and public events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and Council initiatives—across virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats.
  • Manage all event logistics, including venue selection, rentals, permits, signage, decor, catering, entertainment, guest lists, promotional materials, and translation services as required.
  • Lead working committees for special events and projects, collaborating with internal teams and community partners.
  • Create Crowd Management plans, including Emergency Response and Accessibility Plans.
  • Oversee event budgets, ensuring financial responsibility and adherence to budget goals.
  • Coordinate with Strategic Communications to establish creative direction, promotion, collateral, swag, and event materials.
  • Present event initiatives, gather feedback, and report outcomes to senior executive leadership.
  • Develop and implement strategies for internal events, such as employee recognition and inclusion programs, to enhance employee experience.
  • Track and evaluate event success, adjusting strategies for continuous improvement.

Key Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in hospitality management, marketing, business, communications, or a related field typically provides the foundation of knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role.
  • Three to five years of experience in event planning and activation, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Expertise in marketing, public relations, and event management principles, with a keen eye for best practices that captivate audiences.
  • Hands-on experience planning and organizing events that leave a lasting impression.
  • Skilled in project management, from planning to execution, ensuring seamless event experiences.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that build lasting relationships and partnerships.
  • Strategic thinker who aligns activities with broader organizational goals for maximum impact.
  • Communicates ideas effectively—whether speaking, writing, or presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Adaptable and resilient, thriving independently or with a team in fast-paced, ever-evolving environments.
  • Strong analytical abilities to spot trends, identify challenges, and drive improvements.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, excelling in multitasking and managing time efficiently.
  • Comfortable engaging with all levels of staff, leadership, and elected officials, fostering collaboration and trust.
  • A creative innovator who brings fresh ideas to every event and project.
