As a part of the Husky Midstream General Partnership (HMGP) Project Engineering Team, the Project Engineer works independently and with various teams to support and lead small and medium projects and provide project management expertise for Husky Midstream. Projects may apply capital, maintain controls and communications systems and support asset integrity. The successful candidate is able to grasp technical concepts, collaborate effectively with stakeholders (particularly Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams), communicate with impact (influence without direct authority), and connect technical recommendations with desired business results.

What you'll do:

  • Operate in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, ensuring the safe development of project designs, Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) cost estimates, schedules, procurement documentation, regulatory applications

  • Perform in-house engineering design for small changes and manage outsourced engineering design work for medium-size Midstream facilities and pipelines

  • Provide technical evaluation and governance of alterations to existing facilities in accordance with Management of Change (MOC) Policy

  • Provide technical expertise (focused on but not limited to electrical, instrumentation, instrumentation control systems and communications) to address complex problems, review project designs, apply professional practice standards and develop project management strategies

  • Ensure engineering and construction meets the requirements of all applicable specifications, codes, standards and regulations

  • Be accountable for the planning, project control, execution and turnover of facility changes

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • 4+ years of experience in operations/facilities engineering, technical support and project management

  • Electrical Engineering discipline is preferred however Engineering Technologist would be considered

  • Engineer and Technologists must be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or professional licensee with APEGA and APEGS

  • Experience in field execution at an oil and/or gas pipeline/processing facility or in a heavy oil production environment is an asset

  • Understanding of the federal and provincial regulations such as AER, MER and CER pertaining to construction of oil and gas facilities is an asset

  • Solid understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and electrical standards relevant to the oil and gas industry, including NEMA, IEEE, API, CSA, ANSI

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
