Your future role on our team

As Project Director in the Environment department, your work will include developing, coordinating and executing environmental studies, government approval applications and environmental site management projects. The projects will target the energy, mining and heavy industry sectors.

  • Manage and lead all steps required to carry out projects
  • Understand the scope of your responsibilities and associated challenges
  • Establish the tasks required to complete mandates and develop realistic and achievable budgets and schedules
  • Coordinate a team of biologists and environmental technicians under your responsibility
  • Serve as a liaison between the senior manager and team members to establish the schedule, the distribution of responsibilities and the allocation of human and financial resources, to request any clarification or additional information, and to report on work progress
  • Develop work protocols and estimate time as well as direct and indirect costs
  • Perform and coordinate field surveys, analyses and studies, sampling, report writing and client presentations
  • Coordinate applications for government approvals and liaise with relevant authorities
  • Plan and manage meetings both internally with team members and externally with other relevant stakeholders or contractors
  • Monitor team member progress, assess their performance and motivate them, when necessary
  • Ensure deadlines are met and budgets are adhered to, and notify the senior manager promptly to renegotiate, where necessary
  • Serve as a mediator and resolve conflicts that may arise among team members and relevant subcontractors; where necessary, notify the immediate supervisor about it
  • Produce documents (impact studies, surveys, inventories, reports, follow-ups, etc.) adapted to their intended clients

Summary of certifications and job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or other education deemed equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of Québec's Quality Environment Act and the Regulation respecting the regulatory scheme applying to activities on the basis of their environmental impact
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong technical and theoretical knowledge in the following sectors: water and natural environmental management and conservation; botany; ichthyology; agriculture; natural habitat restoration; environmental impact assessment; biophysical information collection and interpretation; report writing
  • Experience in environmental site monitoring
  • Ability to recognize and understand the ecological and social complexities associated with the consequences of projects submitted
  • Excellent communication skills in French, both spoken and written, English is an asset
  • Available for short-term work assignments at client sites
  • Asset: master's degree in Biology, Environment or relevant field
