The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), whose main office is located in Kuujjuaq, serving the 14 communities of Nunavik, is looking for a person to work in the capacity of:

 

FIREFIGHTING TRAINING OFFICER

(Hybrid, Permanent)

 

Under the supervision of the Civil Security Coordinator, the Firefighting Training Officer will implement and keep updated the training program, allowing volunteer firefighters of the region to obtain their Firefighter 1 certification and other training deemed necessary from the École Nationale des Pompiers du Québec (ÉNPQ). The Firefighting Training Officer is responsible for the following duties;

 

  • Develop and implement a regional recruitment campaign.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and provide technical assistance to instructors from the region;
  • Ensure mentoring and development of firefighting instructors.
  • Mentor and promote the acquired competency of the instructors;
  • Plan, schedule, and organize training courses in all 14 communities;
  • Ensure that firefighters receive pertinent, high-quality, and coherent professional training required by the ENPQ or other recognized organizations ;
  • Ensure the use and adaptation of the pedagogical and didactic material prescribed by the ENPQ;
  • In cooperation with the ENPQ, provide supporting documents on each firefighter;
  • Ensure that the training facilities in Kuujjuaq are kept in good working condition;
  • Manage funding reports and budget costs and recommend adjustments as required;
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

 

The selected candidate must :

 

  • Be a certified firefighting instructor by the ENPQ, or willingness to achieve certification
  • IFSAC/Pro Board 1001, 1002, 1041 certifications
  • Possess a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience;
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, and French;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills;
  • Possess excellent analytical and communication skills;
  • Be available to travel frequently in the Nunavik region.

 

Place of work:  Anywhere in Canada, with frequent travels in Nunavik.

Salary: Minimum: $ 60,074 annually – max.: $ 102,839 annually .
