  2. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays - BGC Youth Centre (106 Emmett Ave) (3:00pm - 6:00pm)


BGC Weston Mount Dennis & Lawrence Heights Club serves children and youth in the Lawrence Heights/Weston Mount Dennis and surrounding communities providing social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs. We are looking for motivated people to facilitate our afterschool youth program for the 2023-2024 school years for youth ranging in age from 13 - 17 years old.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Humber Youth Program, ensuring every aspects of the program are functioning adequately.
  • Identify emerging needs and trends; make recommendations for program development
  • Lead the compilation and development of resources required to support Humber Youth participants
  • Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating program for all levels of participants.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with peers, participants, parents, and community partners.
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation.
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (eg. attendance, incident/accident reports, opening and closing procedures, inventory).
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately.
  • Work with the Youth Coordinator to foster new relationships and partnerships, especially those that further our strategic plan.
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate YOUTH COORDINATOR for follow up and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services.
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce St. Alban's Boys & Girls Club's Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
  • Attend meetings/training as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Valid non-probationary, Ontario Class "G" driver's license and access to a vehicle (ASSET)
  • Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in social work, child and youth development, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience leading youth programs in the community.
  • HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification (ASSET)
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (MANDATORY)
  • Submit or agree to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
  • Prior knowledge and understanding of Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets for Adolescents.
  • Experience in teaching (ASSET)
  • Good long term strategic thinker who can create a plan and break it down into clearly implementable elements that can be delivered by others.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Disciplined, organized, self-motivated and pro-active.
  • Creative programming ideas and experience bringing diverse groups of youth together in a recreational, social, or educational setting.
  • Must be a team player and be able to work well with others
  • Experience working within culturally-diverse communities including an understanding of visible and invisible dimensions of diversity.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work from an anti-racist/anti-oppression based approach/framework.
