The Scrum Master II will be an advocate for the adoption of agile ways of working within Ontario Health's Cyber Security teams. The Scrum Master II is an expert in Agile Practices and frameworks. They are responsible for providing coaching, training, mentoring, and impediment management at product and leadership levels. They are responsible for setting Agile practice standards, processes and guidelines for Ontario Health Cyber Security teams to follow. They will establish guidelines to resolve impediments and shift mindsets and behaviors. They will act as agile experts by demonstrating the right mindset including a test-and-learn attitude, a bias for action, a passion to innovate, and a willingness to learn.

They will help train and coach product owners, scrum masters, and product teams on agile methodology and work with the Ontario Health Agile Enablement Team to ensure effective outcomes for the organization. This role will analyze the organization's existing infrastructure and implement improvements to help streamline processes, create efficiencies, and accelerate the organization's productivity. They will also support agile products by ensuring smooth agile processes and activities are in place. This role will be responsible for the delivery of the agile transformation of the Cyber Security teams withing the organization.

Reporting to the Manager, Security Platform Engineering, the Scrum Master II will work closely with the key stakeholders and leaders to ensure a successful agile transformation happens at Ontario Health.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Helps the organization implement an effective agile strategy and roadmap.
  • Leads and facilitates the agile adoption within the Cyber Security Teams by aligning with the organizations standardized agile practices and frameworks.
  • Leads agile workshops for agile product teams, as well as for key stakeholders.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones and assigning responsibility.
  • Works closely with Agile Coaches and Agile Delivery Leads to ensure agile is being implemented across Cyber Security teams..
  • Acts as a goal setting conduit on teams and guides Agile Delivery Leads to ensure optimal results achieved on a continual basis.
  • Develops sustainable, trusted relationships with stakeholders, partners, colleagues, and leaders.
  • Acts as a coach and mentor for the Cyber Security Teams.
  • Leads the Cyber Security Teams through agile transformation roadmap.
  • Acts as change leader within the organization.
  • Coaches and mentors' agile delivery leads and enterprise leadership on agile best practices, frameworks and mindsets.
  • Works with a high level of autonomy in setting objectives based on minimal direction from management.
  • Leads the organization's Cyber Security Teams members to ensure alignment of agile best practices and frameworks.
  • Stays abreast of agile frameworks and new ways of working trends.
  • Works closely with agile champions and leaders within the organization.
  • Works with product groups and Agile Deliver Leads to ensure decisions from minor to critical impact are assessed and made as best and quickly as possible.
  • Coaches and mentor's agile product teams, agile delivery leads, product owners, and enterprise leadership teams.
  • Drives cultural change by championing an agile mindset and ensuring the organization and its people are adhering to industry agile best practices.
  • Delivers the agile strategy and agile transformation within the organization by leading and facilitating the Agile Centre of Excellence.
  • Supports the standardization of agile processes and frameworks within the organization.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • 7 or more years in the role of a scrum master or agile delivery lead.
  • 5 or more years in an agile coaching or training role.
  • 3 or more years of experience in enterprise agile coaching.
  • 7 or more years of experience in using JIRA or Azure DevOps.
  • Agile Project Management Certification.
  • Certified ScrumMaster®
  • SAFe® 5.1 Certified
  • Kanban Certified (or working towards) is an asset.
  • Agile Coaching Certification (or working towards).
  • Advanced experience and understanding of the agile methodology and agile frameworks such as, Scrum, Kanban, Lean and SAFe.
  • Experience in agility health and team agility maturity assessments.
  • In-depth experience in using agile tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Mural, Miro, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience in agility health and continuous improvement methods.
  • Experience in capturing and reporting on team performance and metrics.
  • Thorough understanding of a wide range of technical areas such as cloud infrastructure, security applications and agile development practices in order to effectively guide teams on effective prioritization and problem solving.
  • Understanding of Cyber security best practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ontario Health's business, goals, and how it applies to the provincial health care system.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to educate enterprise level leaders and agile champions.
  • Ability to work to support the implementation of the agile strategy at the enterprise leadership level.
  • Ability to share learnings of new agile ways of working.
  • Ability to apply agile strategies to non-software based products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with agile product teams and product owners.
  • Ability to develop an agile strategy for the organization.
  • Ability to quickly learn the subject areas they are working in, often with a technical nature.
  • Ability and confidence to clearly communicate to all levels of the organization up to executives in order to remove roadblocks and drive results while mentoring product teams and Agile Delivery Leads to do the same.
