About Us 
The Project Delivery Section is responsible for the delivery of many engineering services and products. Staffed by engineers, project managers, technicians, planners and support personnel, the Project Delivery Section holds the primary responsibility for the design of highway rehabilitation, highway expansion, and safety related projects to meet current and future needs of the travelling public.

What can I expect to do in this role? 

In this role, you will: 
 
• Initiate projects and lead multi-disciplinary project teams 
• Assess and ensure engineering contract drawings and contract documentation are complete and accurately reflect the scope of the project 
• Prepare technical reports and make recommendations relating to highway design, safety, capacity, construction and rehabilitation 
• Consult, liaise and negotiate with stakeholders 
• Investigate, analyze and provide advice and recommendations upon request from construction staff during the construction phase of the projects 
 
Note: Ability to travel to areas not accessible by public transit to make site visits/attend meetings. 

How do I qualify? 

Knowledge of Civil Engineering and Legislation: 

  • You have knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and standards related to highway planning, design and construction
  • You have knowledge of related fields (e.g. geotechnical, structural, environmental, traffic, property, drainage)
  • You have knowledge and ability to interpret and apply legislation relevant to highway transportation (e.g. Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Drainage Act)  

Project Management, Planning, Organizational and Supervisory Skills: 

  • You have project management skills
  • You can lead and coordinate concurrent transportation planning and design projects, direct the activities of assigned technical staff and service providers
  • You can set objectives to deliver projects within tight timeframes 

Essential Skills: 

  • You have analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, to develop alternative solutions, recommend design changes, and to manage project issues
  • You have good oral communication skills to respond to issues and provide recommendations
  • You have written communication skills to write reports, correspondence, briefing notes and presentation materials 
  • You have interpersonal skills to supervise staff, administer consultants, and interact with other staff, internal/external stakeholders, and First Nations 

Computer Knowledge: 

  • You have knowledge of automated engineering systems and other engineering related computer programs to develop engineering drawings/documents and conduct analysis
  • You have knowledge of computer applications for consultant acquisition and administration, word processing and spreadsheets
