​​Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.​

​​The Azure Data Customer Advisory Team (CAT) aims to accelerate our customers' journey in building intelligent applications using developer-friendly, mission-critical, AI-enabled relational and non-relational operational databases by programmatically upskilling, sharing best practices, and learning from our field, partners, and customers.

The Azure Data team is looking for a Sr. Program Manager, who will work closely with related product managers and sales teams to inform product improvement and reduce sales friction by collecting, curating, and analyzing product feedback, distilling and communicating valuable insights and best practices. ​

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or a related field AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, or SQL Server or equivalent experience with competitive database technologies (e.g., AWS, Google, MongoDB) and a desire to learn new technologies.
  • 2+ years of experience and competence working with a modern programming language (Python, C#/.Net, Java) in building backend solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience interfacing with customers and/or internal stakeholders to gain necessary information to align solution implementation timeline, provide updates, and adapt plans to changing goal and identifies opportunities for evangelizing and optimizing the product.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Deep technical understanding of AI-related technologies.
  • Proven ability to learn complex technical topics quickly and to research and troubleshoot independently.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills to address deeply complex problems and issues.
  • Experience with public speaking at technical conferences and events.
  • Ability to solve problems by always leading with deep passion and empathy for customers.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to gracefully navigate shifting priorities.
  • High enthusiasm, integrity, ingenuity, results-orientation, self-motivation, and resourcefulness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Embrace diversity of thought and backgrounds, and lead others to do the same.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and delivering results.

Customer Experience Program Mgmt IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $108,100 - CAD $199,700 per year.

Responsibilities

  • ​​Evangelize the capabilities of Azure operational databases (Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL) and the value they bring to customers building modern, intelligent applications with a specific focus on deeply embedding AI capabilities.
  • Evangelize AI design patterns that leverage the large repositories of rich data customers have in their organizations, broadening the scope, scale, and value of the solutions they build for their organizations.
  • Identify and recruit a strong community of experts from the Microsoft field to broaden the reach of the CAT team, working through the pool of field talent to impact more customers than we can do alone.
  • Work with the Microsoft field to help enterprise customers succeed with Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB and Azure SQL DB.
  • Collect, curate, and analyze product feedback, clearly communicating these valuable insights and best practices to all stakeholders.
  • Build new and improve existing technical assets (samples, accelerators, and demos) that accelerate the adoption of new technologies and best practices across the field and customers.
