The Senior Manager, Regulatory program Delivery contributes to the overall success of the Non-Financial Risk team within Canadian Banking Internal Controls ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

The candidate will play a crucial role in managing and supporting the successful delivery of simple to complex regulatory projects that involve multiple teams working on deliverables contributing to an overarching project objective. You report status, ensure alignment between many stakeholders across multiple areas of the bank, and manage aspects of the budget, schedule, risks, issues, reporting, and governance of projects.

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Managing and supporting Scotiabank's Canadian Banking regulatory initiatives and is accountable for:
    • Manage and ensure the successful delivery of simple to complex regulatory initiatives across the Canadian Banking business involving multiple teams from different groups across the bank and external vendors when required.
    • Integrate inputs from multiple stakeholders to establish and manage a project's consolidated scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Support business case creation and SIP submissions for proposed projects by managing and consolidating many teams' scope definition, UX and technical design, estimation and forecasting inputs.
    • Track and manage project risks, issues, action items and key decisions across the program.
    • Lead project teams so that they are aligned and that the dependencies between workstreams are tracked and managed.
    • Report project status to multiple stakeholder groups, including Technology, business lines and executive leadership, as required.
    • Manage and report project and finance requirements, including milestones tracking, risk tracking, managing funding (OP), including budget forecasting, accruals and reconciliation, and ensuring the project is in compliance, as required.
    • Ensure that risks are mitigated, and teams are supported to complete their work effectively.
    • Ensure change management processes are followed pertaining to changes in scope, schedule, and cost. Manage the capture and approval of Project Change Notices and Project Change Requests.
    • Escalate risks and issues that cannot be solved with the project team.
    • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with project team and business team peers. Leverage these relationships to identify issues, make recommendations, and initiate resolution.
    • Ensure the engagement of compliance stakeholders (e.g., risk, legal, audit) as needed throughout the project.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of Agile methodology while delivering IT projects. Ideally has a Certified Scrum master certification (CSM / PSM).
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of project management practices, disciplines, tools, and methodologies. Ideally has a Project Management Professional certification (PMI PMP).
  • Strong budget management and forecasting experience.
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to rapidly assess problem situations.
  • Demonstrates creativity and adaptability when identifying solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate on a broad spectrum (from deep technical discussions to high level executive vision).
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and relationships management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives.
  • Demonstrates proactivity and accountability.
  • Excellent knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of Canadian Banking business units and related support functions across all delivery channels.
  • Must maintain a current awareness of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in operational risk.
  • Thorough knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Project Management Professional certification (PMI PMP) and/or Certified Scrum master certification (CSM / PSM) is an asset.
  • University degree or equivalent with at least 5 years experience in financial services.
