Salary: $73,599.93 - $91,999.91 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week

Job Description

The Senior Advisor, Web will be responsible for managing Michener's online properties. As an integral part of the Communications and Marketing team, the Senior Advisor, Web will take a leadership role in ensuring the Michener website (Michener.ca) is functional, up-to-date and utilizing best practice technologies to serve key audiences. Working within a dynamic team of communications and marketing specialists, the Senior Advisor, Web will draw on their extensive experience in overall website management to support Michener's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor all aspects of Michener's intranet and external website (Michener.ca)
  • Oversee the development, enhancement, day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting and support of Michener.ca
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to write and edit website content that supports Michener's strategic priorities and marketing efforts
  • Conduct ongoing content audits, ensuring online content is relevant, useful and up-to-date
  • Maintain the ongoing quality and efficiency of Michener.ca and Michener's intranet
  • Monitor Michener's compliance with AODA and WCAG2.0 on online properties' and keep the website up-to-date according to global web accessibility standards
  • Lead the user experience management of Michener.ca
  • Responsible for website performance utilizing metrics and analytics to support decision making
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to advise on strategy and support content development
  • Develop and maintain user manuals for content contributors across Michener
  • Lead the project management of all system upgrades, collaborate with external vendors where needed to implement
  • Advise on industry best practices and make recommendations on improvement and enhancement to the website
  • Manage plugin customization and updates
  • Troubleshoot server and WordPress configuration issues
  • Perform and restore from backups as needed
  • Monitor cyber security threats and support breaches, if needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in a computer related field, digital media, or a combination of post-secondary education with extensive digital media and marketing experience
  • Additional education and/or experience in project management, user experience, or information technology is considered an asset
  • A minimum of 7 years of related web management experience

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to undertake website-based writing and content creation, previous experience writing and creating content for a website considered an asset
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, faculty, students and leadership
  • Ability to collaborate with subject-matter experts to ensure clear, concise and accurate language across the website

Web Technology and Digital Media Skills

  • Ability to organize and manage strategic web communication plans, products and services efficiently
  • Comprehensive knowledge of digital and social media best practices and trends across a variety of platforms, with the ability to develop strategies, processes and resources to support appropriate, optimized and effective content and use
  • Expert knowledge of Macromedia suite, Adobe suite, Content Management Systems and Web standards
  • Experience integrating diverse platforms with websites for comprehensive user behaviour tracking, including proficiency in Google Tag Manager for creating and managing conversion events
  • Thorough knowledge of WCAG and AODA compliance, and web writing best practice ensuring compliance to AODA
  • Highly proficient at WordPress, SharePoint, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, FontAwesome
  • Great understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and web analytics tools (eg. Google analytics)
  • Understanding of CRM platforms
  • Knowledge of cyber security

Project Management and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Strong project management and leadership skills to coordinate web development projects
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage timelines and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, results-driven
