The Team

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank's Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.

The Role

GBME is searching for Technical Analysts to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME.

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including solution architects, engineers, and business teams.

As part of the role, you'll

  • Gather requirements from business units and translate to engineering teams
  • Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities
  • Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as required
  • Conduct testing and support in deployments and release management as needed
  • Support production issues, handing escalations and root cause analysis
  • Perform ad hoc work as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written, with an ability to work with various business lines and partners.
  • Ability to understand and translate the technical requirements of applications to non-technical partners or peers
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required
  • Working knowledge of databases with experience reading, writing and running SQL scripts
  • Great working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working experience as a Business Analyst in the financial technology sector is a plus
  • Experience in capital markets technology
  • Experience with but not limited to PL/SQL, UNIX, JAVA, XML, is an asset
