The world is undergoing a once-in-a-lifetime, multi-trillion-dollar building and infrastructure investment. Brickeye is leading the charge to equip the construction industry with cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) technologies which dramatically increase productivity, reduce risk, and enhance quality. We enable our customers to outperform and to build and manage their projects safer, smarter, and better.

Brickeye is seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to join our team with expertise in the design and construction of high-rise mechanical building systems for domestic water and hydronics. This position is responsible for analyzing MEP and architectural drawing packages to identify optimal locations for installing IoT-enabled devices, including automatic shut-off valves, flow sensors, and presence of water sensors within various mechanical systems and building areas. Additionally, the role requires the ability to develop project-specific technical proposals and detailed installation plans to guide the implementation of IoT-enabled solutions during construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Drawing Analysis: Review MEP / architectural drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine suitable locations for integrating IoT-enabled devices including automatic shut-off valves, flow sensors, and presence of water sensors.
  • Solution Optimization: Evaluate existing water mitigation solutions to identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement. Develop strategies to enhance system performance, including efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Component Selection: Select appropriate components and equipment based on system requirements, specifications, and industry standards. Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure high-quality materials.
  • Technical Proposal Development: Develop detailed project-specific technical proposals outlining the scope of risk controls and IoT device deployment during construction, including component specifications, installation methods, and project timelines. Support internal and external project teams in communicating proposal details to clients and stakeholders.
  • Installation Planning: Develop comprehensive installation plans detailing the placement and configuration of IoT-enabled devices within mechanical building systems. Ensure alignment with project objectives, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate project cost estimates for deployment of IoT-enabled solutions, considering factors such as materials, labour, equipment, and overhead expenses.
  • Project Assistance: Collaborate with Brickeye project manager, engineers, and technicians to coordinate the implementation of IoT-enabled solutions. Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections and tests to verify the proper functioning of IoT-enabled systems.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Preferably working towards a Peng license
  • Proven experience in mechanical estimation and mechanical building systems for domestic water and hydronics.
  • Proficiency in interpreting MEP / Architectural drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
