We have a great opportunity in our Engineering, Construction & Expansion (ECE) Project Management Office (PMO). We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Manager, Project Controls to join our team.

What You Will Do

As the Manager, Project Controls you will be responsible for managing the setup and implementation of Integrated Project Control Systems (people, processes, tools) for the assigned project(s) in the areas defined below:

  • Estimating
  • Cost Management
  • Planning/Scheduling
  • Document Control/Document Management
  • Change Management
  • Performance Monitoring (Engineering, Procurement and Construction)
  • Project Status Reporting
  • Project Close-out
  • Project Reviews and Lessons Learned
  • Risk

You will oversee and coordinate the project controls team to setup and implement the Integrated Project Control Systems which will provide the project team with accurate and timely information on which to base decisions. On the identification of variances to the project plans, and in conjunction with the other functional managers (where appropriate), recommend courses of remedial action to the Project Manager(s).

Where required, provide independent analysis of projects; provide input, guidance, and recommendations to the project execution team in support of project/program/portfolio decision-making and remedial action; exercise influence on project execution strategies to support project health.

Ensure timely reporting of performance results and/or sensitive issues to senior management as appropriate.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (e.g. Engineering), combined with progressively responsible experience in a professional capacity and at management level in an engineering/construction management organization; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Project Management Professional (PMP), Risk Management Professional (RMP), or professional level certification with the AACE (CCP / PSP), and Master's degree in Construction Management, or Business Administration (MBA) are considered assets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current project controls and project management principles, methods and practices as they relate to engineering design, construction, estimating, and scheduling.
  • Broad knowledge and demonstrated experience in different delivery systems other than Design-Bid-Build (Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Manager at Risk etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of accepted accounting principles, cost control measures and contract administration practices, as well as knowledge of office support systems in a project-oriented engineering, procurement and construction environment.
  • Experience working on large projects as well as multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business administration, fiscal and human resources policies and legislation/regulations regarding safety, employment, human rights, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, supervise, evaluate and motivate professional and clerical staff.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff in the organization.
  • Sound judgement; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, must be capable of resolving complex problems effectively, and critical thinking abilities to manage multiple complex projects.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of cost and schedule management software/technology (e.g. Prism or equivalent, Primavera P6, MS Project) is required.
  • Proficient in software applications relevant to the work (i.e. Excel, Access, MS Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint)
  • Knowledge and experience of Monte Carlo risk analysis applications in the development of cost and schedule risk modelling at project and program-wide levels is an asset.
