Please note: The Toronto South Detention Centre is Ontario's largest maximum security detention centre and health care services are provided 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This position conducts work on-site at the Toronto South Detention Centre located at 160 Horner Ave, Etobicoke, Toronto. As this is a frontline essential position, it is essential for the Manager of Pharmacy Services to be physically present in the Detention Centre five days a week.

Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities
Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of their business goals. As the Pharmacy Services Manager, you will:
• Supervise, plan, and coordinate the daily operations of the pharmacy team.
• Facilitate the review and evaluation of health care and pharmacy services to ensure ministry standards are maintained and co-coordinate pharmacy services with other disciplines.
• Control and monitor allocated operation budget for the unit.
• Provide professional direction and coaching to subordinate staff.
• Develop goals, objectives and expected outcomes for the delivery of efficient, quality pharmacy services.
• Prepare and present pharmacy education programs to inmates and health care staff.
• Maintain records and statistics to identify trends and developments that have critical program/service delivery implications and develop recommendations for mitigation.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You are currently a registered Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Strategic Leadership:

• You are a dynamic, values-based leader.
• You have proven experience in developing sound and innovative programs and in issues management.
• You have been successful in promoting equitable practices that value diversity and inclusion into your work environment and that support employee engagement.

Technical and Legislative Knowledge and Skills:

• You have knowledge of drug theory, evidence-based pharmacy practices, current treatment modalities and community pharmacy resources
• You understand and can interpret legislation, policies, practices and procedures to provide pharmacy services (e.g. Regulated Health Professions Act, Pharmacy Act, Drug and Pharmacies Regulation Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Ontario Public Service and ministry policies, procedures and Collective Agreements).

Relationship Management and Communication

• You have demonstrated superior written, oral and interpersonal skills and can influence and negotiate with partners and stakeholders to find collaborative solutions to complex issues.
• You have demonstrated stakeholder management skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships of trust with senior management, clients and partners.
• You can effectively manage expectations and anticipate and resolve major obstacles and conflicts.
• You have experience managing sensitive and contentious issues.

Evaluation and Analytical Skills

• You can ensure professional standards are met by developing, maintaining and evaluating policies and procedures for delivery of pharmacy services.
• You can apply quality management and improvement strategies to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care services as it relates to the pharmacy.
