Broadview Village has 40+ years of experience providing outstanding support to adults with developmental disabilities, dual diagnosis and mental health challenges. With a $15.5 million budget (used to provide residential supports to over 75 people and day programs to support over 400 people) a corporate culture predicated on the principles of servant leadership, and a new 4-year labour agreement with its biggest union, Broadview Village is poised to move into the next few years as a leader in the field of developmental services.

You can be part of this team. Broadview Village is currently hiring a Full-Time Residential Manager. This position reports to the Director of Community Programs or Designate, the Residential Manager position requires people with a passion to inspire a team of Residential Counsellors to excel. Each residence serves 2-10 full-time, 24/7 residents with developmental disabilities.

The Residential Manager provides support to the employees and residents within established policies and procedures including: Employment Standards, Collective Agreements, payroll procedures, Salvation Army Accreditation, and Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008 (SIPDDA).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to the agency's policies and procedures
  • Represent residents and/or staff at meetings
  • Identify, evaluate and plan for resources in response to changing program needs
  • Ensure that your supervisor is aware of all aspects of program development
  • Ensure completion of statistical recording as required
  • Participate in the agency on-call rotation schedule
  • Participate in all management meetings
  • Review Policy and Procedures and recommend revisions
  • Review job descriptions and make recommendations for change
  • Ensure compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Act & agency H&S standards
  • Be responsible for own professional self-development
  • Model appropriate professional behaviour for staff and residents
  • Be involved in regular supervision and consultation with the Director as arranged
  • Participate in committees
  • Ensure compliance with all governing bodies including The Salvation Army and MCSS
  • Ensure smooth operations of our residential programs

HR Responsibilities:

  • Hiring, orientation, supervision, coaching, development, discipline, termination of staff as required by the agency's Policies and Procedures or Collective Agreement
  • Ensure completion of UltiPro payroll processes as required
  • Ensure completion, documentation and submission of required HR forms
  • Create Staff Schedules to ensure coverage for program needs as well as agency guidelines
  • Identify staff training needs and facilitate staff development
  • Adhere to the Collective Agreement
  • Ensure regular Team Meetings are held

Service Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that programs for supported individuals are operated in a manner that reflects the Broadview Village and TSA Mission and Values
  • Ensure that resident finances are managed in-line with appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that each resident receives, at minimum, a yearly Individual Service Plan meeting that reflects the current strengths and needs of the individual and the associated goals for the coming year.
  • Ensure that the ISP's are reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Ensure compliance with government and agency program requirements including TSA accreditation and MCSS compliance reviews
  • Ensure completion of documentation including Incident Reports, Behaviour Support Plans, Shift Reports, Maintenance reports, etc.
  • Ensure orientation and supervision of students and volunteers

Health And Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
  • Ensure Health & Safety requirements are maintained
  • Facilitate information sessions as arranged.
  • Commend employee health and safety performance
  • Ensure the equipment, materials and protective devices are used as prescribed and are in good condition.

Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a permanent full-time position based on 40 hours per week with flexibility to meet the needs of the program
  • 1 week of 24/7 rotational on-call duties are required
  • 4-8 weekend hours per month
  • The performance of the job requires bending/ twisting/lifting, considerable walking, standing, writing, computer work, and housekeeping.
  • Exposure to dirt, bodily fluids, bodily waste
  • Noise
  • Dealing with angry and abusive people
  • Verbal abuse
  • Handling garbage
  • Odors

The incumbent may be exposed to risk of minor to moderate injury or illnesses due to the following:

  • Physical attacks by others (i.e., being attacked by a resident)
  • Exposure to infectious diseases
  • Exposure to toxic chemicals
  • Exposure to bodily fluids
  • Sharp objects

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Developmental Services Worker diploma or equivalent degree/diploma related to human services
  • Minimum five (5) years' full-time experience in developmental services
  • WHMIS Training
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
  • It is an expectation of the role to be certified in Standard First Aid/ CPR and NCI and use it in practice on a regular basis
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and apply effective body mechanics and meet the physical demands of the position.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • 2-3 years supervisory experience
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License, personal vehicle is a requirement, current copy of driver's abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
  • Knowledge of and training in pharmacology/meds administration

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • Computer skills are essential
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
