Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities

Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of their business goals. It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the ministry. You will contribute to the achievement of team goals by:

• Planning, supervising and coordinating food preparation, production and delivery for the institution.
• Overseeing ordering requirements, maintaining inventories of food supplies, and authorizing payment of monthly billings.
• Planning and posting weekly menus using a computerized food services software.
• Establishing and implementing effective and efficient food preparation and production methods.
• Inspecting kitchen, dishwashing, and distribution areas to ensure cleanliness and a pest-free environment.
• Conducting inspections of equipment to ensure proper and safe operation, storage, waste management, and compliance with Public Health standards.
• Preparing and assuming responsibility for the food services operating budget.
• Providing supervision, direction and training to staff and inmate helpers.
• Maintaining data and records of meals served, including number and types of special diets/meals ordered and provided, and daily usage and losses.

How do I qualify?

Management and Leadership Skills:

• You have demonstrated the leadership behaviors, attributes and mindsets to lead the OPS into the future.
• You can manage and coordinate the overall kitchen and food services operations, and provide technical, administrative and operational direction to staff
• You can provide effective financial, material and human resources management
• You support a values-based, inclusive and engaged team environment
• You have experience assigning and coordinating the kitchen workflow, evaluating performance, identifying staff training needs and resolving employee relations matters.

Knowledge and Experience:

• You have knowledge of food services management, including cooking and preparation methods and procedures, cost control, menu planning principles, restricted diet and basic nutrition, meat preparation, and equipment operation and care
• You have experience working in a high-volume cooking facility
• You can interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures related to food services, nutrition and waste management

Analytical Thinking, Planning and Coordination Skills:

• You can identify and resolve a range of food services operational issues
• You can coordinate a wide range of activities in the kitchen, maintain accurate food inventory and Food Service needs, and develop processes to enhance service delivery
• You can produce detailed and complex records and reports

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You can communicate effectively with senior management, institutional staff, suppliers and stakeholders to exchange information, solve problems and provide effective service
• You can provide technical expertise and guidance to staff and inmate helpers
