The Electrical Engineering Delivery office is a Centre of Excellence providing a provincial function that delivers services throughout Ontario. This office is responsible for providing in-house electrical design, capital program planning and delivery, asset management, and policy & standards development for the Ministry of Transportation's electrical infrastructure which includes highway lighting systems, traffic signal control systems, ferry dock and Remote Northern Airport services, electric vehicle charging stations, and power distribution and generation systems for these assets.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Provide in-house electrical engineering design services, and supervise, support and evaluate the activities of in-house engineering design staff and professional engineering services providers
• Provide project management, leadership, technical and administrative direction for the planning, design and coordination of multiple, concurrent transportation related electrical infrastructure projects
• Participate or lead in the development of new policies, procedures, and standards for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with the Association of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid G license or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's license upon being hired.

Technical Knowledge:

• You have design skills and knowledge in highway lighting systems, traffic signal systems, and other transportation related electrical infrastructure, through the application of the theories, principles, and practices of electrical and electronic engineering and technology
• You have knowledge of economic analysis methods including design cost, construction cost, maintenance cost, benefit-cost, and life-cycle cost assessments for program planning and prioritization of corridor needs
• You demonstrate the ability to operate and manipulate computer software for engineering and operational design, and construction contract preparation
• You have knowledge of and/or ability to interpret procedures, standards, guidelines, practices, legislation and regulations relevant to the design, construction and maintenance of highway lighting, traffic signals, and power distribution systems

Project Management Skills:

• You can provide project management, leadership, technical and administrative direction for the planning, design and coordination of multiple, concurrent transportation related electrical infrastructure projects

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

• You have the ability to define issues, determine and assess alternatives and generate solutions
• You have the ability to assess quantitative and qualitative information

Interpersonal, Communication and Negotiation Skills:

• You have interpersonal and negotiation skills to establish working relationships with and to negotiate agreements with internal and external stakeholders
• You have written and oral communication skills to prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations
• You have the ability to work independently or as part of a team
