In this role, you will be a part of the infrastructure team, of the Northern Engineering Sector, based in the Thunder Bay office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Prepare construction documents in coordination with multi-discipline project team of architects and engineers.
  • Coordinate project requirements and development of construction documents with subconsultants.
  • Monitor the timeliness and quality of architectural technical document submissions to the Clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Perform code reviews and meet independently with local code officials to review and determine specific local code requirements and project compliance.
  • Manage the preparation of all architectural technical document packages and related submittals related to planning, obtaining approvals, and specifications.
  • Identify and manage project risks and associated mitigation measures.
  • Perform bid phase and construction phase tasks including site visits, review of shop drawings, responding to requests for information, and issuing clarifications.
  • Support proposal stage on Projects, RFP's Client Requests, etc.
  • Lead the development of design alternatives using a variety of media, including computer visualization, and physical models.
  • Ensure that both the internal and external client needs are met and that the projects are delivered within cost, quality and schedule targets.
  • Lead and/or participate in regular project meetings and ensure that stakeholders are well informed on project progress and best efforts are exerted in meeting their needs.
  • Lead the development of presentation documents and make design presentations to Clients.

What your experience looks like

  • Degree in architecture required from an Accredited University. Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Must have 5+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to use computer software for design.
  • Must have detailed knowledge of all phases of architectural and engineering practice.
  • Must be proficient in the production of contract documents including Technical Specifications.
  • Must be proficient in production with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience working on medium size projects.
  • Experience with Sketchup, Photoshop, 3D Studio, Rhino, V-Ray, and other imaging and rendering software.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and experience liaising with clients.
  • Detailed knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry associated standard.
