Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Governance Practices and Transformation, Business Governance and Controls, the Senior Consultant, Regulatory Programs will play a critical role in driving larger scale changes to enable effective oversight, testing, and monitoring to meet regulatory requirements and expectations and to ensure that we maintain a strong risk and compliance culture while delivering on client and advisor centric experiences.

The Senior Consultant, Regulatory Programs will be responsible for leading delivery of projects, major enhancements to programs and workstreams on cross business Retail Advice & Solutions (RA&S) initiatives. This role will also be responsible for managing processes and programs to support the development and maintenance of Advisor business practices aligning with regulatory requirements as well as business priorities.

You will bring an innovative and strategic mindset with strong analytical skills, enjoy building new programs and processes with a background in wealth and/or insurance and have experience working on projects and initiatives.

What will you do?

  • Design and deliver projects and new internal programs to ensure effectiveness of the business oversight programs and a consistent level of Advisor business practices
  • Strive for continuous improvement in the oversight programs to promote advisory-friendly, client-centric and compliant outcomes
  • Review and enhance existing processes and tools within the BG&C team aligning with other business groups within RA&S
  • Provide business expertise to drive forward and support the implementation of business and technology initiatives within BG&C and in support of other RAS initiatives
  • Partner with other teams to explore new capabilities to modernize processes
  • Assist with the development of change management strategies including change plans, communication and adoption plans
  • Create and deliver on field management and advisor training programs in relation to risk, compliance and other regulatory programs
  • Create program management for BG&C oversight programs including processes, tools and materials for oversight teams to effectively perform their jobs
  • Collaborate with other areas within RA&S to develop practical and effective solutions and outcomes
  • Translate concepts into actionable projects and road maps with delivery and execution to meet timelines and achieve outcomes
  • Impact and influence skills to navigate complex stakeholder management
  • Prepare and communicate plans to senior management in a professional and executive level manner

What do you need to succeed?

  • University degree in Business, technology, Mathematics or equivalent
  • 3- 5 years of years of experience Wealth and insurance industry experience
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in an analytical, strategy or delivery role within a regulatory function including project management, process development, training, technology
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory environment in which RA&S operates
  • Strong skills in Microsoft office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Mutual Fund Branch Manager experience is an asset
  • Licensed with either Life Licensed Qualification Program (LLQP) or Life Office Management Association (LOMA) is an asset

  • Comfortable with ambiguity

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
