RVA's Toronto office is seeking a skilled and experienced Intermediate Project Engineer with a focus on municipal engineering to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, managing, and executing a variety of municipal infrastructure projects, including roadways, water and wastewater systems, stormwater management, and urban development initiatives. The role requires both technical expertise and strong project management skills, with the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Duties:

  • Working with Civil Engineers and other project team members as part of an integrated project team.
  • Lead the design, planning, and implementation of municipal engineering projects, including roads, stormwater systems, water/wastewater distribution networks, and utility services.
  • Preparation of preliminary and final designs for road reconstruction and infrastructure renewal projects, stormwater projects, culverts, watermains, sanitary and storm sewers and grading.
  • Preparation and coordination of approvals, tender documents, cost estimating, contract documents, reports including sealing the documents.
  • Preparation and editing of AutoCAD and Civil 3D design drawings as required.
  • Manage project budgets, including tracking expenses, preparing invoices, and providing financial updates to clients and senior management.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by assisting with proposals, presentations, and client relationship management.
  • Engineering and contract administration related to municipal projects including site development, roads, watermains, sanitary and storm sewer systems. Duties will encompass the municipal, commercial, land development and mining/industrial sectors.
  • Other duties as required where appropriate for the position.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 8+ years' experience in municipal engineering. Consultancy experience is preferred.
  • Must have a valid P. Eng. designation in the province of Ontario or eligible to get it in the next 6 months.
  • Proficiency with civil engineering software such as MicroStation and InRoads. Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS and hydrological modeling software is a plus.
  • The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and all levels of staff in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience or aptitude for meeting timelines and budgets, proposal writing, client development and other skills appropriate to consulting.
  • Proven capabilities in writing reports and other technical documents.
  • Demonstrated superior English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
