Reporting into the Operations Manager, the Soil Coordinator will be responsible for, overseeing the Soil Management operation for Dufferin Aggregates and supporting the growth of Soil Management line of business by providing the necessary direction to optimize and maximize soil importation operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that daily operations are carried out in accordance to company objectives through the direct effective supervision of the contractors, hourly production and
  • maintenance employees
  • Analyze the environmental documentation submitted by customers to determine suitability for importation (Assume the role of the "Qualified Person" or QP)
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Dufferin Aggregates Health and safety policies and procedures, in daily
  • operations, as well as ensuring that Health and Safety training is carried out in accordance to legislative and company requirements
  • Maintain shipping and importation schedules and communicate progress regularly to the management
  • Coordinate the daily operations to balance deliviries so as to meet sales targets, and customer needs
  • Represent Dufferin Aggregates during onsite visits by the M.O.L., M.N.R., and the M.O.E.
  • Support property department with efforts to provide necessary rehabilitation to site, in accordance with approved site plans
  • Assist and support Site Manager and Site Superintendent with special projects and company initiatives, as required
  • Direct supervision of any third-party contractors on site
  • Ensure environmental quality control guidelines are followed upstream (at the customers job site) and downstream (at the receiving site).
  • Customer-Focused Mindset - Demonstrates a strong focus on customer needs by maintaining professionalism in all interactions, proactively resolving issues, and effectively coordinating with internal teams to ensure soil importation activities align with client expectations and company standards.


Requirements:

  • Holds a bachelor's degree in science, engineering or applied technology from a post-secondary institution
  • Holds a license, limited license, E.I.T registration or temporary license under the Professional Engineers Act or holds a certificate of registration under the Professional Geoscientists Act, 2000 and is a practicing member, temporary member or limited member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario
  • Sound technical knowledge of aggregate, concrete or construction products and practices required
  • The ability to understand and interpret the Excess Soil Regulations and act as the "Qualified Person"
  • Industry related experience an asset
  • Computer Literate (Microsoft Office, Knowledge of SAP an asset)
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime if needed
