THE ROLE:

As the Software Technical Program Manager within the Windows Software Platform Group, you will manage end-to-end ownership and delivery of multiple and concurrent software development deliverables within the established bounding box (timelines, budget, scope and pre-defined performance/quality).

You will work with internal teams to take complex engineering research, analysis and optimization efforts and produce a comprehensive plan with tangible SW deliverables that you will track execution of all the way to program interception/launch. You will also interact with the functional and program management leadership from platform engineering, production validation, product management and other teams within and/or outside RTG organization to ensure proper alignment and overall coordination in program execution.

Solid program management of various software development teams, monitoring the quality of the resulting software deliverables against agreed upon metrics and a strong partnership with the core development teams are a few of the things required to ensure programs are enabled and delivered on time.

THE PERSON:

The right candidate will have solid knowledge of program management, impeccable track record of delivering complex software programs, and experience with Device Drivers, Firmware and customer facing experience. Knowledge of Window operating system architecture and working experience in graphics and/or CPU products is desired.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines, plans and drives projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance.
  • Scope technical feasibility of proposed advanced solutions by clarifying and analyzing requirements with SW/HW Architects, Technical Leads and SW Engineers.
  • Develop SW program schedule by considering various Driver, SW Stack components and HW/FW dependencies, negotiate and create a staffing plan that supports the schedule.
  • Manage collaboration ensuring smooth working relationship with core development teams, materials management, Quality and Release management
  • Facilitate multiple program meetings like technical discussions, requirements clarification, change requests evaluation and Risk management
  • Work with engineering managers and teams to ensure successful interception of advanced solutions withing associated New Product Introduction programs.
  • Provide regular and succinct status reporting of ongoing initiatives and deliverables within the Windows Software Platform Group.
  • Work with other program managers in large programs to support planning and execution of specific scope

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Detailed oriented, self-driven with a strong sense of pride and ownership.
  • Proven experience in large and complex Project & Program Management experience in dynamic and competitive industry.
  • Extensive hardware/software and/or customer engineering experience with exposure to Device Drivers, Firmware, Graphics technology, SOC product development.
  • People management experience is desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to handle all levels of interaction, including executive level internal to AMD and with external partners.
  • Horizontal leadership/Matrix management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
  • Collaborate in problem solving and mitigating risks with Engineering, Program/Project Management, Business Units and Product Management - both internal and external
  • Strong knowledge of productivity and project tools including Jira, JAMA, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Flexible working schedule to manage global (specific Asia and North America) program execution team.
  • Nice to have knowledge of various SW promotion and release process

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering
  • Formal project management education, PMP / Scrum Master
