We are looking for a Engineering Job Lead to manage jobs within the Engineering Services organization and act as the Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) for the customer. What you will be doing!
  • Responsible for the delivery of design services to meet the needs of CNL Mission areas and Company objectives.
  • Using general knowledge of project management principles, is involved in project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, through discussions with design resources and internal customers to define the scope of the project and deliverables.
  • Acting as the Engineering Representative for the assigned job in the ECC application and provides oversight of jobs throughout project lifecycle.
  • Tracking and coordinating execution of job tasks and milestones as outlined in the design plan, and regularly meet with the design team for job updates.
  • Resolving situations where risk to job budget and deadlines have immediate impacts, escalates issues and provides a recovery plan for schedule and budget variances.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong and effective customer relationships.
  • Organizing and conducting pre-job briefs, kick-off meetings, field walkdowns, and post job debriefs.
  • Providing suggestions for improvements in job planning and execution of design work to enhance overall efficiency.
What we are looking for:
  • Education:
    • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of 5 (five) years of relevant experience in an operation, engineering or project environment, or similar combination of education and experience resulting in a sound knowledge of project execution, engineering principles and applications
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 (five) years of relevant experience in an operation, engineering or project environment.
    • Demonstrated project management expertise through successful leadership of large complex engineering jobs.
    • Experience leading cross functional teams and chairing meetings
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate teams, plan and organize work, monitor and report project progress, make timely decisions, and work with minimal supervision and direction.
    • Demonstrates effective project management and systems-thinking skills in work planning, decision making and financial management.
    • Advanced knowledge of Engineering processes (e.g. ECC, RREC, FCR, etc) and procedures.
    • CNL specific knowledge of the ECC application, Vault, Avantis, ATOM.
    • Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, strong drive, positive attitude and consistent, careful attention to detail.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential. This role must mobilize teams, building momentum to achieve results through effective and consistent communication with engineering resources and customers.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable leading cross functional teams to accomplish objectives, form new relationships, optimize resources, and solve challenging problems.
    • Familiarity with industry best practices and standards to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Up-to-date working knowledge of all applicable company and general safety regulations and procedures.
    • Broad understanding of the management system, nuclear science and technology and associated licensed facilities, operations, projects and services.
    • Working knowledge of the following quality and management system standards/codes: CSA N286, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, CSA Z299, CSA N285, Engineering Change Control.
  • Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.

Location:

This role is based out of CNL's Chalk River site, however, subject to the terms of this agreement, the primary work location will be remote. The role will require some regular and frequent attendance at the Chalk River site. The schedule and frequency will be determined by discussions with the manager as well as internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
