Job Profile

Reporting to the Manager of Development Engineering, within the Engineering and Transportation Services Division of the Community Development Department, this position is responsible for the following duties:

What you will be doing

• Reviews and provides technical comments on all development applications including, but not limited to site plans and subdivisions, with respect to servicing, grading and stormwater management design.
• Assists with the preparation and implementation of Pre-servicing and Subdivision Agreements, including consultation with other Divisions and other agencies, including the Region of Waterloo and GRCA.
• Project manages Municipal Class Environmental Assessments (EAs) and capital projects for growth related municipal infrastructure including term of reference preparation, consultant selection coordination, providing direction to the consultant, budget-tracking, chairing public meetings, preparing reports to Council and other committees, responding to stakeholders and ensuring compliance with EA legislative requirements.
• Assists in the preparation of the ten-year capital forecast for growth related infrastructure projects.
• Represents the City and/or Department at Public Information Centres, Neighborhood Meetings and Council meetings.
• Receives, investigates and responds to development inquiries from the public, members of council, city staff, developers, and consultants.
• Develops strong and effective working relationships with other City divisions, the Region of Waterloo and regulatory agencies.
• Represents the City of Cambridge on Regional Environmental Assessments, Master Plans, Studies, detailed design, reconstruction, Steering and Project teams, and other projects as assigned.

Education

Undergraduate Level - Four years or equivalent in Civil Engineering

Experience and Knowledge

• Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) License
• Four years’ experience in municipal development including providing technical comments, implementing subdivision agreements, and design and construction of municipal servicing
• Proficiency in Engineering Software applications including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
• Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills, Project Management of Consultants for Detailed Design and Construction Administration and public speaking / chairing public meetings

Valid G driver's license.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour

Your compensation

Annual salary range of $94,039 - $114,678 (Non Union Salary Scale, Grade 5)
Comprehensive benefits package including extended health, dental, travel benefits; long term disability; accidental death and dismemberment and life insurance.
Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).

Hours of work

Monday to Friday – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week)
