About the role
Join the Housing program Team in the Specialist, Initiatives position. In this role, you will provide research, analysis and guidance to respond to changing issues and trends in CMHC's operating environment and contribute to new policies, products, services and systems, continually ensuring that client needs are met throughout the process.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct research and analysis, prepare briefing notes and executive updates to respond to requests and concerns, ensuring an accurate and timely corporate position.
  • Ensure that analysis and recommendations are undertaken within risk appetite, identifying any risk mitigation and/or controls.
  • Stay informed on sector issues affecting CMHC clients, collaborate across teams to find improvements, and monitor market trends and regulations impacting CMHC’s practices and policies.
  • Participate in the development of new and/or modification of existing products/programs, services, systems and policies; measuring the quality of the results to ensure that client needs are addressed, and project objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinate sector-level initiatives by liaising with various teams across the company to ensure alignment to corporate objectives so that outcomes are achieved.
  • Provide research and analytical support, during all phases of projects and frequently as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Solicit input from stakeholders and clients to inform opportunities for new or revised products, policies, services and systems.

What you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in business, economics, finance or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience with increasing responsibility in housing finance, insurance and/or product/program development within the multi-unit/residentials space
  • A solid understanding of the business context and development of government programs
  • An advanced ability to draft understandable, clear and consistent documents on topics within the areas of responsibility and to explain the content to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong knowledge in the foundational application analysis within multi-unit/residential space
  • The ability to take initiative and work in a multi-team environment or independently.
  • A demonstrated ability to apply problem-solving techniques and conduct data analysis.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

It would be great if you also had:

  • A thorough understanding of the housing industry and CMHC’s role in it.
  • An understanding and awareness of social, economic and political trends affecting the provision of housing.
  • Experience in managing projects (project management or change management).
  • Experience in the development and documentation of functional business systems requirements, including oversight in system enhancement projects, or changes to business systems.
