About the Organization
This research project aims to address training deficits and enhance the ability of public health to effectively execute its emergency preparedness and response mandate. This project is CIHR Catalyst Grant funded and aims to :
  • Examine emerging and existing theories and pedagogical approaches to public health emergency response training.
  • Collect and analyze key actors' descriptions of the gaps and strengths of existing training programs in public health efforts to address emergencies, including their views on equity-based approaches as well as decolonizing and indigenizing approaches to emergency preparedness and response.
  • Apply new knowledge and generate new models to inform the development of new public health training programs designed to teach effective and equitable emergency preparedness and response.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Nominated Principal Applicant and Principal Investigator, the Research Project Coordinator will coordinate the development of project timelines and deliverables and will supervise other the research assistants. The Research Project Coordinator will liaise with all research team members and with the primary Department (Community Health and Epidemiology) as required. The Research Project Coordinator will access and disperse project funds as necessary to provide for needed project resources.
Key Responsibilities
  • Be the primary person responsible for implementation of the research protocols.
  • Oversee all elements of management of the project and of associated budget.
  • Provide regular updates to the project team and communicate other items as they arise to project team members.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to the research assistants hired for the project.
  • Coordination of the research team meetings.
Note
This position offers flexible work arrangements at home, at Dalhousie University (Halifax) on-campus, or a hybrid of the two, based on the mutually agreed terms.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a field related to public health or emergency preparedness.
  • Ability to proactively provide inputs, coordinate, and organize research work and findings.
  • Experience working with qualitative data and associated analysis programs such as NVivo.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, act resourcefully, and think creatively and critically to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct including records management, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Possess skills in Microsoft applications such as Excel and Word.

Assets
· PhD Candidate or Postdoctoral Fellow or equivalent are preferred.
· Knowledge of online survey platforms will be considered a strong asset.
