An integrated, collaborative, interdisciplinary vaccine research team, the Canadian Center for Vaccinology (CCfV) is committed to developing, implementing and evaluating vaccine technologies and vaccines for infectious diseases that have a significant impact on Canadian and global health and training experts in these critical and evolving fields. Job Summary
Reporting to the Study Project Manager, the Community Project Lead will provide support in meeting objectives of the research study titled "Improving Childhood Immunization Coverage among Priority Populations in Nova Scotia."
Key Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager, co-develop a work plan for required study activities.
  • Manage and provide support for community-based research staff (Outreach Workers and Research Partners) to answer questions, ensure staff have necessary materials to complete assigned tasks, and monitor task/study progress.
  • Participate in the onboarding and orientation of the project for Community Outreach Workers and Community Research Partners.
  • Act as main point of contact for community-based study participants.
  • Support the Project Manager in distributing information and updates regarding the project to study team (Community Outreach Workers, Community Research Partners, full-time CCfV staff and faculty, healthcare professionals).
  • Provide leadership in developing project-related documents, which may include ethics submissions, budgets, consent forms, and others (in accordance with CCfV's Standard Operating Procedures).

This position is an average of 15 to 20 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00pm-4:00pm Monday to Friday, with some flexibility as required. Must have capacity to work from home.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or certificate in health, education, social sciences, or related field (or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience within a university, hospital, or comparable environment in a research setting.
  • Experience with practice and understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, anti-racism, and other related issues, including their intersectionality with other social and structural determinants of health. Comfortable and/or experience working with equity deserving populations.
  • Excellent and thoughtful communication and interpersonal skills; ability to speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
  • Ability to produce high quality written work (reports, special projects, correspondence).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, MS Project).
Assets
  • Project management experience in research, academic, or community setting.
  • Fluency in a second language.
