A Project Manager, reporting to a Program Manager, is assigned clear scope of work. Project Managers are fully versed in the Statement of Work and Contract requirements, working to determine root cause of problems and communicate strategic solutions with applicable stakeholders and are responsible for ensuring that delivery of scope is planned, performance managed, tracked to completion. Having Project Managers in place therefore has a direct impact on the ability of the business to achieve customer requirements within cost and schedule. Work would still be carried out, and therefore expenditure of government provided funding, but potentially not efficiently and/or in a manner that avoids unintended negative impact to the overall program.
Project Managers will coordinate with a number of stakeholders across the program, both internal and external, depending on the size and criticality of the assigned scope.
