Provide geospatial support to improve the delivery of services to the residents of Saint John. Serve the Corporation by creating, updating and maintaining geospatial data as required. Ensuring geospatial quality data. Perform geospatial analysis and mapping to support evidence-based decision-making. Provide geospatial expertise and support to corporate initiatives and information systems. Provide support to GIS users and respond to internal and external requests for geospatial data and services.
Key Result Areas
Assist Saint John Water, Saint John Parking, Public Works and Transportation as well as Parks and Recreation by creating and updating geospatial data, interpreting requests, performing analysis and mapping to support service improvement and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of infrastructure asset data.
Assist Growth and Community Services by creating and updating geospatial data, interpreting requests, performing analysis and mapping to support planning functions, the administration of the City's Municipal Plan, municipal by-laws and legislative requirements of the Community Planning Act.
Assist the Saint John Police Force, Fire and Rescue, and the Public Safety Answering Point by creating and updating geospatial data, interpreting requests, performing geospatial analysis and mapping as well as ensuring the City's official civic addressing data meets the legislative requirements of the Emergency 911 Act and NB911 guidelines.
Assist Saint John Transit by creating and updating geospatial data, interpreting requests, performing analysis and mapping to support service improvement and maintaining its General Transit Feed Specification file.
Assist the Emergency Management Organization by creating and updating geospatial data, interpreting requests, performing analysis and mapping to support emergency operations. Act as a secondary GIS resource during emergency situations.
Assist Utilities and Infrastructure by creating and updating geospatial infrastructure and asset data, interpreting requests, performing analysis and mapping. Maintain and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the various datasets critical for the Asset Management System. Have a comprehensive understanding of records management as it relates to the City's infrastructure.
Assist Strategic Services by creating geospatial data, interpreting requests, performing analysis and mapping. Provide geospatial support for the Customer Relationship Management system and the Enterprise Resource Planning system.
Provides accurate and current geospatial information to City employees and the Public by:
• Creating, updating and maintaining various geospatial datasets;
• Creating, updating and maintaining related attribute records;
• Designing and developing mapping applications for employees;
• Designing and developing mapping applications for public use, accessible on the City's website;
• Creating data visualization and data capture tools for field workers;
• Preparing geospatial data for clients; and
• Providing geospatial analysis and mapping support to clients.
Acts to ensure the ongoing accessibility of the Geographic Information System by
• Providing GIS user support and training;
• Documenting processes and procedures;
• Troubleshooting software/hardware issues;
• Writing and editing batch programs and scripts;
• Producing help and training manuals; and
• Monitoring and ordering printer and plotter supplies for the GIS service area.
Certification
Certified GIS Professional is considered an asset.

Class 5 Driver's License
Education
Undergraduate degree in GIS or equivalent (minimum 4 years post-secondary education)
Experience
Minimum 3 years GIS experience (municipal experience preferred)
