Indigenous COOP Student Opportunity

Background

Diamond Schmitt Architects (DSA) and EXP Engineering and Architectural Services (EXP) are supporting the redesign and construction of the Atlantic Science Enterprise Centre (ASEC). ASEC is a federal building that was built in the 1950's and is home to labs and science facilities that serve the Atlantic region. ASEC will be a world-class facility for research and education with the goal of understanding, protecting and sustaining Atlantic freshwater and coastal saltwater aquatic ecosystems in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Atlantic Ocean regions.

The redesign of the ASEC Building is a significant project located in the heart of Moncton where the Federal Government, with the design and construction teams, is looking for intensive collaboration with Indigenous communities, employees, and partners in the region. This new approach to inclusion requires significant collaboration from everyone involved with the project and the design team (DSA and EXP) needs help with design related work as well as connecting with Indigenous communities. This project is estimated to be completed in 2031 and offers summer employment opportunities for Indigenous student to support the team and act as a liaison between the teams and the community.
