We are looking for someone to help build and maintain Shopify's Threat Management and Protective Intelligence program to enhance our ability to prevent, detect, and respond to security threats and incidents. You will focus on reviewing intelligence reports, conducting assessments of risk and threat, produce advisories, and provide enhanced behavioral analysis to support our Protective Services Team, Global Security Operations Centre and Security Operations Team. The team you will be a part of is responsible for the upkeep, expansion, and support of our physical security operations, safety and emergency management programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Risk Analysis: Effectively identify and analyze relevant risks and vulnerabilities, producing actionable intelligence products in a timely manner.

  • Threat Research: Research open-source intelligence, social media platforms, and deep/dark web for known and potential threats that may impact the company's assets.

  • Protective Environment: Support the protection of the company's people and assets through proactive intelligence reporting and collaboration with the Global Security Operations Centre and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Analytic Techniques: Utilize structured analytic techniques to develop tailored intelligence products and provide threat warning notifications to the Executive Protection Team, Global Security Operations Centre, and Physical Security Team.

  • Geopolitical Monitoring: Monitor geopolitical events that may impact international travel, corporate events, and operations.

  • Ad-hoc Support: Provide ad-hoc intelligence analysis support to key security stakeholders as needed.

  • Information Gaps: Identify and address information gaps to recognize potential short- and long-term threats.

  • Resource Management: Appropriately leverage resources, technology, information, and tactics to protect reputation and minimize risk.

  • Project Prioritization: Prioritize ongoing and new projects, and conduct research to gather relevant information.

  • Ethical Information Processing: Identify internal and external solutions to obtain, review, and process information ethically and legally.

Qualifications:

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to perform under pressure.

  • Leadership Engagement: Proven experience presenting to and communicating with senior leadership teams.

  • Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years in analytical, investigative, or protective services disciplines.

  • Global Security Expertise: Experience in global security operations and travel safety programs.

  • Executive Protection Support: Demonstrated experience supporting executive protective services teams.

  • Team Collaboration: Experience collaborating with global and regional teams.

  • Confidentiality: Proven ability to handle and work with confidential information.

  • Multi-tasking Ability: Skilled in managing multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.

  • Work Environments: Experience working effectively both independently and in team settings.

  • Social Media and Intelligence Tools: Proficient in using various social media platforms and open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools.

  • Reporting Skills: Ability to produce accurate and timely reports with minimal oversight.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality work.

  • On-call Availability: Willingness to be on-call as part of a security rotation.

  • Flexible Schedule: Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.
