Position Overview


Reporting to the Senior IT Manager, the Business Analyst will be an integral part of the FMB IT Team, driving technological innovation and business success. The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. Primary responsibilities will include gathering and analyzing business requirements, supporting IT systems, and identifying opportunities for process improvements.

The Business Analyst will collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure that IT projects align with business objectives and deliver value. Additionally, they will provide data-driven insights to enhance system performance and efficiency. This position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.


Accountabilities

  • Requirements Gathering: Work with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements for IT systems and projects.
  • Process Analysis: Evaluate existing business processes and workflows, identifying areas for improvement and optimization, that may include new business programs and initiatives. Leading process review and improvement initiatives to ensure smooth transitions. Identify and mitigate risks associated with business processes.
  • System Support & Training: Provide support for IT systems, including troubleshooting issues, coordinating with technical teams, and ensuring system functionality. Develop training documentation and provide training and support to end-users on new systems and processes.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data to generate insights and recommendations for system enhancements and business process improvements.
  • Solution Design and Business Case Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions. Develop detailed business cases and project proposals. Creates test plans to ensure the solutions work as intended (UAT testing).
  • Project Management: Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope. Monitor and report on project progress and performance.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, process flows, and user guides.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate effective communication between business users, IT teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of project goals.
  • Change Management: Facilitate change management by engaging stakeholders, assessing impacts, managing risks, analyzing data, mapping processes, planning communications, supporting training, and monitoring outcomes.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.

The Business Analyst performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within an IT department.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in business analysis tools, software and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis), or ECBA (Entry Certificate in Business Analysis) are a plus.
  • Experience in Organizational Change Management with relevant certifications such as Prosci or CCMP (Certified Change Management Professional) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Microsoft 365. Particularly OneDrive/ SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Visio, and Excel. Experience with PowerBI and Microsoft Dynamics is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous Governments, organizations and communities preferred.
  • Understanding, awareness and appreciation of Indigenous culture and history preferred.
  • Willing to participate in ongoing education and training for the role including Indigenous studies.
  • Must be fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Fluency in French or an Indigenous language is considered an asset.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

    Working Conditions


    • This position is based out of West Vancouver, BC; remote or hybrid work arrangements may be considered.
    • Occasional national travel may be required.
    • Standard working hours with some flexibility required to meet project deadlines.
