STATUS: Permanent; Full-Time
SHIFT:

About the Position:

The Senior Officer, Digital Engagement is responsible for the successful planning, implementation, ongoing analysis and optimization of BC SPCA digital engagement campaigns, websites (spca.bc.ca & adopt.spca.bc.ca) and social media properties.

Some specific duties:

Digital Engagement (65%)

  • Uses cross-channel digital marketing best practices alongside data analysis and regular testing, to oversee the planning and success of digital campaigns (non-fundraising).
  • Works with the wider Digital Team and program staff to grow and implement an integrated strategy across (sometimes competing) digital campaigns, ensuring consistent strategy and processes.
  • Creates clear, engaging and persuasive copy for various platforms (web, email, social, paid advertising) that follows marketing best practices and is in line with the BC SPCA values and Foundational Principles for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Reconciliation.
  • Provides strategic and technical expertise on digital initiatives to other BC SPCA departments.
  • Collaborates with the Media & Internal Communications team, the Digital Team and program staff to coordinate editorial planning, writing and editing needed for website updates and email campaigns.
  • Provides coaching and digital UX expertise to internal content creators, including creating and maintain training materials, establishing organizational best practices and ensuring the Style Guide is kept up to date.
  • Analytics and data tracking across digital channels
  • Ensures all non-fundraising digital campaigns and properties adhere to relevant legislation and organizational policies (including but not limited to: Privacy Policy, CASL, cyber security best practices, new software and user access guidelines).

Website Administration and Optimization (15%)

  • With the support of the Officer, Digital Engagement, works closely with web developers (internal and external) on site updates and ongoing website maintenance, including product and content updates.

Leadership (20%)

  • Supervises, mentors and provides guidance to the Officer, Digital Engagement; including, but not limited to:
  • Supports the Senior Director, Public Engagement & Giving in meeting all portfolio Key Performance Indicators (KPI), metrics and milestones.
  • Ensures adherence to a budget area that includes regular external web development, web plug-ins and non-fundraising advertising.
  • Collaborates on departmental stewardship activities and retention and conversion strategies.
  • Develops and maintain relationships with industry peers and commits to continued education, learning and innovation.
  • Leads by example in professionalism and commitment to excellence.
  • Commits to making the BC SPCA a provincial not-for-profit leader in digital expertise and results.
  • Participates in department and organization-wide staff meetings as required.
  • Contributes to the growth of a culture of health and safety and volunteerism.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to BC SPCA values, work-life balance, and principles of equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you need to have:

    • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline plus 5-8 years of experience with digital engagement and strategy, or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer.
    • Experience overseeing integrated marketing campaigns, including planning, execution and post-campaign analysis.
    • Strong project management skills, including the ability to work proactively and efficiently, manage competing priorities, establish procedures, and work with internal and external developers to maintain a website in an agile, innovative, fast-paced environment.
    • Experience writing clear and engaging content with consideration for user experience, seo optimization, social media best practices and compelling calls to actions.
    • Knowledge of an eCRM required. Experience with both use and set up of Google Analytics and Google Ads accounts and with WordPress CMS strongly preferred. Google Business Manager, basic HTML and CSS skills would be an asset.
    • Ability to manage, mentor, nurture and empower staff and volunteers.
  • Comfortable working with data: establishing data points, accurate record keeping, collecting and analyzing data and using it to support initiatives, and demonstrate success, needs, or areas of concern.
  • Able to do some weekend and evening work, as necessary.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional growth and education.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail to ensure consistent, error-free messaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage projects, meet priorities and work within a high-volume environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a diverse audience of internal and external parties at all levels in a respectful manner.
  • Working knowledge of concepts of equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation; able to relate respectfully to a diverse audience.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft products.
  • Philosophical harmony with the mission, vision, values and strategic direction of the BC SPCA.
