Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Research Project Facilitator position is to support the Kwiakah Nation, Principal Investigators, and larger team involved in the research-cluster project titled, Understanding Regenerative Ecosystem Dynamics in Kwiakah Territory. This inter-disciplinary, inter-university Indigenous-led production requires extensive and comprehensive research coordination and facilitation efforts with the Kwiakah Nation. The incumbent will be responsible for aspects of project organization, with emphasis on supporting project budgets, drafting grant proposals and technical reports, and identifying sources of funding, as well as coordination among multiple universities, agencies, and Indigenous communities. In addition, they will be responsible for identifying gaps in the project and seeking synergies that expand the scope of the work. In service to the Kwiakah Nation, the role is pivotal to the progression of project goals, and contributing to impactful, community-centered research outcomes at the University of British Columbia. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Indigenous-led research, experience working alongside the Kwiakah Nation, and knowledge in social equity, Indigenous protocols, and hybrid economic models that integrate Indigenous values and three-eyed seeing.
Organizational Status
The research collaboration will take place with Zoom meetings as the position is fully remote (home), with the possibility of in-person meetings on campus if necessary (Forest Sciences Centre).

Errant decisions or communications could have a serious impact on operations and the reputation of the department and University.

The individual reports directly to Dr. Suzanne Simard and will be co-supervised by Steph Troughton and Jean Roach.

None. The Research Project Coordinator will be expected to onboard new team members, ensuring they have access to all necessary information and resources to support their integration and success.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
