Main Purpose and Function
Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability (PDS) develops Council's direction into community plans, policies and programs and then ensures conformance to those plans through the issuance of rezoning and development permits. Under the Vancouver Charter, the Director of Planning has broad authority for city wide planning and the approval of development applications. PDS staff liaise with Metro Vancouver staff on regional planning and sustainability matters.
The Senior Project Manager, Continual Process Improvement, is responsible for leading and managing large and complex policy implementation and process initiatives, strategies and service delivery projects within PDS as it relates to continuous process improvement. The Senior Project Manager, Continuous Process Improvement manages a variety of projects that results in changes to internal processes and operations or how the Rezoning Centre delivers service to the public and applicants, while ensuring high-quality results within budget and on time. The Senior Project Manager plays an integral role in projects focused on revenue generation (permit fees review), business transformation, housing legislation compliance and PDS's 4 Year Work Plan implementation, and will work closely with other service groups within PDS and across other departments also involved in continual process improvements.
The Senior Project Manager manages a portfolio of projects that often involve significant financial interests, risks to manage, cross-departmental project teams and a range of stakeholders. The role manages projects from initiation through to project sustainment, including developing key performance indicators and service metrics, reporting on project performance, and delivering high-quality results within budget and on time.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work a hybrid work week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
