SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Business Support Specialist, WMS Key User to provide comprehensive technical support for our Warehouse Management System (WMS) and supporting applications. This role will also encompass EDI support, change management, testing, and project support to ensure seamless day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support testing efforts, manage system changes, and contribute to project work, all while ensuring smooth integration of technologies at the site level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

WMS & Application Support:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for site-level technical issues related to WMS and supporting applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve WMS-related issues, including application errors, system performance problems, and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of WMS and related systems, escalating issues as necessary to internal or external support teams.

EDI Support:

  • Provide day-to-day support for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions between internal systems and external partners.
  • Troubleshoot EDI issues, including data transmission errors, mapping problems, and integration failures.
  • Work with business stakeholders and trading partners to ensure that EDI processes align with business requirements.

Change Management:

  • Assist in managing the change control process for WMS, EDI, and other supporting applications.
  • Coordinate with IT and business teams to plan, test, and deploy updates, new features, and system upgrades.
  • Document and communicate changes, ensuring proper change management practices are followed.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to ensure the success of deployed changes and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Testing Support:

  • Support the testing efforts for new system functionality, application updates, and patches.
  • Work closely with business and technical teams to develop and execute test plans, including test cases and scripts.
  • Participate in system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and regression testing to ensure new changes meet business requirements.
  • Identify, document, and report defects and work with developers to ensure timely resolution.

Project Support:

  • Assist in the implementation of new projects, system upgrades, and application integrations at the site level.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met on time.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of project tasks, ensuring proper coordination across teams.
  • Provide technical expertise during project execution to ensure the successful deployment and integration of systems.

Documentation and Training:

  • Create and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures, system configurations, testing protocols, and change management processes.
  • Provide training to site personnel on new system functionality, processes, and applications.
  • Develop user guides, knowledge base articles, and other training materials to improve user adoption and system utilization.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, vendors, and business units, to ensure effective system support and issue resolution.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on system performance, testing progress, EDI transactions, and change management activities.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on system goals and project deliverables.

Compliance & Security:

  • Ensure that all WMS, EDI, and supporting applications are in compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and security protocols.
  • Assist in maintaining data integrity, confidentiality, and availability for all supported systems and applications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., WMS, EDI, ITIL, PMP) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience supporting WMS, EDI systems, and other related applications in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards (e.g., X12, XML) and troubleshooting EDI issues.
  • Experience with change management processes and systems.
  • Previous experience in supporting testing efforts, including functional, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Exposure to project management principles and project work is beneficial.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), such as Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder (JDA Red Prairie), or similar.
  • Experience with EDI tools, mapping, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of SQL and other database query tools is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies, including test planning, execution, and defect management.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working well within cross-functional teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to work in a warehouse or site-level environment, which may involve walking, standing, and light lifting.
  • Occasional travel may be required for project support or on-site troubleshooting.
