The Company

For nearly four decades, BCLC has delivered exceptional gambling entertainment for British Columbians. To fulfill our social purpose we have a vision to revolutionize gambling entertainment through engaging experiences that build and benefit communities. We operate national and provincial lotteries in partnership with 3500 retail partners, provide the games, technology & oversight to 37 brick & mortar casinos, and operate a safe secure and 100% legal online gambling presence PlayNow.com. In our recently completed fiscal year, BCLC generated a record $1.5 billion in net income to the Province of B.C. to support First Nations, host local governments, health care, education and community programs across the province.

The Team
Joining the People and Culture team at BCLC means you'll be working with a trusted, passionate, hard working, employee focused team of professionals developing and implementing world class people and culture strategies, programs and practices across Talent Management, People Development and Operations, Organizational Change, Rewards, Recruitment and Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.

The Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB) team is responsible for fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can feel like they belong. They support our mandate for social purpose and indigenous reconciliation as well as our provincial mandates of antiracism and accessibility.

The Role
Reporting to the Director, People Development and Operations, the Manager of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging will lead initiatives that foster an inclusive and equitable workplace. This role is pivotal in creating a culture where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute to their fullest potential. This role supports the advancement of People and Culture's Social Purpose initiatives through the employee life cycle.

In this role, you will be the driving force behind our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB) efforts, ensuring that our policies, practices, and culture reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Your work will have a profound impact on employee engagement, retention, and overall organizational performance. By championing DIB, you will help us attract a diverse talent pool that feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute to their fullest potential.

What you will accomplish

  • Increase the representation of underrepresented groups within the organization
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive DIB strategy that aligns with BCLC's mission and values, and partner with other People and Culture teams to ensure DIB principles are integrated throughout all people processes
  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to embed DIB into al employee life touchpoints and ensure that DIB lens is incorporated into all the people, product, policy and processes organization-wide
  • Create programs that build awareness and understanding of DIB initiatives
  • Foster an inclusive culture through the creation and support of the DIB committee and employee resource groups
  • Implement and oversee DIB training programs to enhance awareness and engagement among employees.
  • Leads the project management process through implementation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure stages including producing all relevant documentation

Qualifications and skills

  • University degree in Human Resources, Business, Social Sciences or in a related field
  • Certification for Diversity and Inclusion will be considered
  • 5 -7 years related experience with at least 5 years diversity and inclusion experience in a work environment, including experience in implementation of and supporting diversity committees and employee resource groups
  • Proven leadership experience, including leading, mentoring and developing high performing teams experience leading and directing the work of a team
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered

  • You are a strategic thinker, with the ability to develop and implement long-term DIB strategies that align with organizational goals
  • You are a strong communicator, with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey DIB concepts and initiatives
  • You have proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and drive organizational change
  • You have strong analytical skills including strong data analysis skills to develop, track and report on DIB metrics and progress
  • You have the ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with diverse teams
  • You have strong project management skills, including organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

It would be awesome if you also had

  • Experience with relevant employment laws and regulations related to DIB
  • Familiarity with social purpose companies and alignment between DIB and Social Purpose opportunities
  • Experience with change management and organizational development
  • Knowledge of current DIB trends and research
