Job Description

The Indigenous Relations Advisor will be critical in fostering positive relationships between Aramark and Indigenous communities throughout Canada.

This position is responsible for being in community liaising with Aramark's Indigenous partners and clients to ensure the mutually agreed upon strategies enhance engagement with Indigenous peoples. This position will also play a key role in ensuring that our operations are aligned with Indigenous values and perspectives. The Indigenous Relations Advisor will work collaboratively with the Manager of Indigenous Relations and various internal and external stakeholders to promote cultural understanding, support community development, and uphold the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility.

The Role includes:
1. Execution of strategic engagement plans with Indigenous Communities with a focus on building and maintaining relationships, open communication, and collaboration.
2. Account management and adherence to commitment delivery of Aramark Canada's Participation Plans with their Indigenous partners.
3. Conduct prospecting and opportunity assessments to identify new Indigenous partners.
4. Assist with corporate Indigenous initiatives..
5. Provide strategic advice, ongoing reporting, and communication with various internal and external stakeholders regarding Indigenous engagement and economic negotiations.
6. Participating in and following up on community events, industry networking events, including conferences and association events.
7. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to progress Aramark's Indigenous Relations strategies and commitment to the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business's Progressive Indigenous Relations certification program.
8. Monitor, analyze and communicate national, regional and local indigenous issues that could affect the Company or impact strategic initiatives.

The successful individual for this role, could be based in Alberta or British Columbia

Job Responsibilities

  • Account Management of current Aramark Indigenous Partners (60%)
    • Community Engagement: Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with Indigenous communities and leaders. Facilitate open and respectful communication to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations.
    • Partnership Development: Identify and pursue opportunities for partnerships and collaborations with Indigenous communities, including business ventures, community projects, and educational initiatives.
  • Aramark Corporate (10%)
    • Promote awareness and understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues within the company. Organize training and educational programs for employees.
  • Reporting and Communication (10%)
    • Prepare and present reports to management and Indigenous partners on the progress of Indigenous relations/Participation Plan initiatives. Communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.
  • Job Fairs & Community Events (20%)

Represent the company at industry conferences, community events, job fairs, and government forums related to Indigenous relations and engagement.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in recognized program is preferred.
  • 2+ years related work experience in the field of Indigenous Relations, Stakeholder Relations, Business Development and/or related field.
  • Strong software skills in MS Office suite, CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce)
  • Strong social media skills and a solid social media presence
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet firm deadlines with minimal supervision; proven capacity to be a self-starter.
  • Project management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage key initiatives and budgets.
  • Ability to plan, organize and execute work on time and budget.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate Indigenous peoples' cultural and business awareness, with the ability to collaborate effectively with community leaders to build lasting relationships.
