Retail Operations, encompassing the three retail business units of Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations, is responsible for the strategic direction and operations of the 198 BCLIQUOR Stores. The Retail division develops and executes key strategies to drive business/ revenue, creates systems and processes to maximize operational excellence, while upholding BCLDB’s core values of service, relationships, and results. About this role:

The Manager, Creative Operations reports to the Senior Manager, Brand and Customer Experience and provides supports to all retail and e-commerce channels of the BCLIQUOR. The Manager, Creative Operations, is responsible for defining the concept and strategy of creative development, overseeing all aspects of full production for graphic design content (website, e-newsletters, in-store screens, advertisements, etc.), collateral (in-store point of sale material including promotional event signage, shelf talkers, posters), and branded materials (window frosting, product price tags, large educational signage, social responsibility animations, etc.) for all BC Liquor Stores.

The Manager, Creative Operations establishes and maintains corporate standards for illustration or photography, photo and illustration banks and typography guides, and develops and implements the creative operations program and accompanying policies, procedures, and guidelines for graphic design across the BC Liquor Stores. This position oversees and approves the creation of all graphic design work including image files (e.g., photography), representational sketches and final illustrations, type and assembly, graphic art, animations, juxtaposition, visual materials, layout, and design for final production files for printers.

Candidates must have the ability to work weeknights or weekends as required (only for urgent matters or to support a major launch).

A valid BC Driver’s License is required.

A criminal record check is required.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

Degree or diploma in marketing or graphic design with a minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience* in graphic layout and design.

OR

Certification or course completion in marketing or graphic design with a minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience* in graphic layout and design.

*Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last 7 years and must include the following.

  • Experience as a Graphic Design Manager, Art Director, Creative Director, or a Project Manager in a creative agency.
  • Experience planning and producing a wide variety of digital content for omni-channel marketing.
  • Experience with translating wireframes into user-friendly interfaces for digital platforms.
  • A minimum of 2 years of recent experience* leading a team of direct reports.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in any of the following:

  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience working with e-commerce platforms and optimizing user experience for an online store.
  • Experience working within a multi-unit retail business.
  • Experience with JIRA, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat)
  • Experience working with graphics on both a PC and MAC computers.
  • Experience with MAC network.
