Role Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Payroll & Benefits, this role would be responsible for processing payrolls accurately, on a timely basis, while continuously looking to identify efficiencies. The Payroll Team Lead would also assist with HRIS & Time & Attendance projects including development, reporting, and the implementation of new initiatives.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for full cycle Payroll
    • Processing Canadian salaried and hourly multi-provincial payrolls (Bi-weekly)
  • Provide guidance to Payroll Administrators & support to the Manager, Payroll & Benefits
  • Process & Review of Payroll related entries
    • New Hires, Terminations, Leaves, Employee Changes (Address, Dependents, Direct Deposit, etc.), Pay Rate Adjustments, Promotions, Transfers, Commissions, Bonuses, ROE's & Misc. Deductions.
  • Verify time from Time and Attendance system and import hours into Payroll Software
  • Responsible for the submission of RRSP & TFSA contributions
  • Administer benefit plan changes & respond to benefit related inquiries
  • Prepares Payroll calculations and HR reports as required
  • Workers Compensation reporting & analyzation
  • Assist with month end and fiscal year end reporting
  • Perform year-end related activities and producing T4's
  • Assist in the management & development of HRIS and Time & Attendance systems
  • Ensure compliance to all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines
  • Establish appropriate control measures to ensure compliance in payroll processes, company policies and legislative requirements
  • Build and maintain trusted working relationships by providing excellent customer service, contributing to a positive and efficient working environment
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience processing full cycle payroll
  • Designated PCP - Payroll Compliance Professional (PLP certification would be an asset)
  • Working knowledge with Payroll, HRIS and Time & Attendance systems is preferred
  • Experience with UltiPro, Humanity and Great Plains would be an asset
  • Accounting knowledge, sufficient to perform journal entries and payroll account reconciliations.
  • Capable of handling confidential, sensitive and personal information
  • Strong planning and organization skills to determine priorities with strict deadlines
  • Well organized with superior attention to detail
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office; including advanced Excel (Pivot Tables & Vlookup functions)
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
