The City of Edmonton selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners to design and build the 14-kilometre Valley Line West LRT project from downtown to Lewis Farms. Construction began in 2021. Marigold is a design-build joint venture agreement between Colas and Parsons. We are looking for a Construction Coordinator - Stops and Utilities Complexes - to join our team. This person will be responsible for actively managing construction at the site, including site HSE safety and supervision, managing construction subcontractors and direct staff, maintaining the project schedule, coordinating with design, and ensuring that the project meets both quality and construction industry standards.
• Ensure Project Agreement, design drawings, specifications and construction industry standards are met and ensure high quality control in the effort to minimize deficiencies.
• Ensure project materials and workmanship meet project design specifications and high-quality standards.
• Ensure smooth coordination of all construction related activities between trades and other teams.
• Participate in communication when required between clients and stakeholder groups.
• Ensure adherence to project schedule deliverables and critical path.
• May assist Segment Manager and Facilities Team in the creation of site schedule, plans and procedures (i.e., scheduling and forecasting resources).
• Provide resolution to project issues as they arise and communicate project issues in a timely manner to Segment Manager (i.e., work scheduling conflicts, work interference, errors / discrepancies / omissions in design drawings, project deficiencies list, poor workmanship quality, etc.).
• Ensure third party independent testing and inspections are scheduled, completed and recorded and meet project design specifications.
• Document all required site reports and keep Superintendent and/or Segment Manager informed of project status.
• Participate in developing Inspection and Test Plans in accordance with MIP quality management policies, actively promote Quality Control, and take responsibility of the completion of all inspection documents and related records for turnover.
• Participate in turnover and commissioning planning, engaging project stakeholders at every stage in the commissioning. Resolve issues as they arise to the satisfaction of the Project Agreement, design, specifications, and commissioning plan. Organize the timely turnover of related documents required for maintenance and operations manuals.
Safety and Environmental:
• Ensure the Construction is in full compliance with the Project Agreement, including matters relating to quality, safety, environment, and life cycle performance, such as Project's ECO Plan, Health and Safety Plan, and all applicable legislation.
• Provide leadership and direction to safety professionals, and all other site personnel.
• Ensure trades/subcontractors / workers adhere to health and safety policies, procedures and best practices. Promote a safe work environment (i.e., site inspection, hazard assessment, toolbox safety talk, etc.).
• In the event of accident report immediately according to Company procedure and assist in investigation and close out.
• Follow Company procedures to ensure safe environment, personal safety and safety of others.
• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Business or related field and/or relevant and equivalent experience.
• Health & Safety related training applicable to construction sites
• Minimum 2+ years of progressive construction project management and/or site supervision experience (i.e., civil, commercial, industrial, residential, new construction projects, tenant improvements, renovation, additions). Canadian / Alberta experience preferred.
• Must be available for evening/night and week-end work as required.
• Understanding of construction industry standards and operations (i.e., construction specifications, building materials, methods, and procedures).
• Construction project management experience in high security environment is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Must have experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, Project, Outlook). P6 Professional knowledge and experience an asset.
• Team leadership, including assessing and providing feedback on job performance to sub-trades and direct reports.
• Problem solving / conflict resolution and sound decision-making skills.
• Ability to visualize the entire project, anticipate issues and implement solutions in collaboration with Project Team.
• Attention to detail, specifically quality control to minimize deficiencies in real-time.
• Time management and organizational skills to ensure project deadlines are met.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including active listening and interpersonal skills.
• Going above and beyond attitude (strong work ethic.)
