Our Technical Operations Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the use of manufacturing technologies and best practices in McCain Manufacturing plants (French Fry and Potato Specialties).
• Manage equipment commissioning, qualification, and verification activities throughout capital project installation and start up
• Ensure growth and Capex projects incorporate the right technologies and best practices to optimize profitable growth
• Ensure projects start up vertically
• Manage the hand-off transition between functions and ensure projects deliver against the business case

How You'll Add Value:
• Deliver vertical start-up of projects using Start-up Management processes for equipment
• Ensure projects incorporate the right technologies and best practices to optimize profitable growth
• Coach a team of individuals to the highest levels of project Start Up Manager (SuM)
• Review and approve Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and logic simulations
• Manage equipment commissioning, qualification, and verification (CQV) process for medium and large-scale projects
• Monitor and drive factory performance and support plants to sustain and make continuous improvements against key manufacturing targets to deliver Sustainable Cost Advantage (SCA)
• Manage the development, implementation and sustainment of McCain best operating practices
• Develop technical capabilities throughout the manufacturing organization
• Network / collaborate through the technical operations organization to contribute to future best practices and equipment standards that support SCA
• Coordinate efforts between plants to share processing knowledge and improvements
• Lead the development of new manufacturing technology pipeline and establish new processing benchmarks that drive continuous improvement
• Work with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, production, food quality, safety, financial, procurement) to review, approve and support capital projects proposals that align with the business long term grow strategy.
• Participate/collaborate on Request Expense Authorization (REA) reviews for North America engineering and maintenance capital projects.
• Assist plant engineers to develop and provide information required to support REA development (calculated savings, operational/process benefits and risks, technology applicability)
• Define resource plans to support execution of approved capital projects for North America manufacturing plants.

About You:
• University degree required in Engineering (preferred) or a related field combined with at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Food Manufacturing industry. Previous experience in technical operations, engineering, plant production management/supervision or R&D role is a must. Leadership and project management experience is a definite plus
• Strong technical aptitude, mechanical/electrical engineering, and/or plant automation, with the ability to improve process efficiencies - (Process engineering)
• Experience with electrical and controls systems design and programming
• Knowledge with Autonomous Maintenance Systems
• Strong analytical and abstract thinking skills
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to understand process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives
• Experience in training and facilitation
• Knowledge of processing equipment, processing methods, manufacturing philosophies and basic manufacturing SOP's
• Expertise in the validation and effectiveness of new technologies
• Experience with start-up management concepts and equipment commissioning
• Ability to manage a team, effectively delegate tasks and measure progress, with the goal of managing concurrent priorities and contributing to the development of technical capability throughout the organization
• Ability to build strong relationships across a broad range of functions and support their efforts through a collaborative approach
• Ability to influence effective decision-making with cross-functional business teams
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface successfully with others representing diverse styles and cultures
• Project management skills: chartering, milestone development, resourcing, detailed action planning
• This role requires up to 50% travel within North America along with having a valid drivers licence
