The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. Job Description
We're excited to offer a 6-month Engineering Student position with our Transmission Project team!! The position will be from May 2025 - October 2025. We are offering you an opportunity to work alongside professional engineers who are performing transmission project engineering work. Part of team responsibility is to maintain transmission cost benchmark based on customer connection and system projects.

Data management
Assist with entering transmission cost data.
Assist with transmission cost classification.
QA/QC of transmission cost database.
Software Development
Assist with cost estimate software development and maintenance.
Contributing to tool enhancements and development in VB and Python.
Engineering Review
Assist with reviewing cost information and service proposal provided by transmission companies.
Contributing to additional work on the Project Engineering team including metering and stakeholder engagements.

You have:
Completed a minimum third year level course work in Electrical Engineering or Mathematics
Proven experience in programming and coding particularly in Python and VB, etc.
The ability to set and manage priorities to meet deadlines.
Excellent organizational skills, including excellent attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a solid customer service focus
Experience in preparing a wide variety of documents, charts and tables using Microsoft Office software.
A positive attitude and take initiative to offer creative solutions.
The ability to handle a wide variety of confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.
