About this opportunity:
Cenovus is seeking a Senior Projects Engineer to join its organization and lead Conventional projects through all phases of the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing and maintaining the project design basis, managing budgets and schedules, overseeing detailed engineering design, coordinating with key stakeholders, leading major material procurement, and supporting construction and commissioning activities. This role requires a proactive leader with strong project management expertise, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
What you'll do:
Accountable for project performance with respect to safety, cost, and schedule by following the Cenovus Conventional Project Management System (CPMS) to create, progress, and execute numerous concurrent projects
Lead in-house discipline engineering resources and engage 3rd party engineering consultants to drive efficient project execution
Promote safety as a core value in their approach to design and execution of work in their area and champion a focus on Process Safety in design and regulatory compliance
Provide technical infrastructure engineering support and mentorship to the Operations Engineers and Plant Engineers including project scoping, design, cost estimating, and execution
Act as a key collaborator in the Management of Change (MOC) process, overseeing both technical reviews and final sign-offs
Support the application of Cenovus's Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP)
Provide mentorship to other staff in areas of expertise, leverage peer knowledge to enhance understanding in areas of limited experience, and cultivate a culture of knowledge sharing and open communication across Conventional Operations
Engage key collaborators including Construction, Well Delivery, Operations/Maintenance, Automation, Supply Chain, Measurement, Finance, and Joint Interest to sustain business performance, challenge anomalies, and identify and implement opportunities to optimize value
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Professional Engineer designation licensed by APEGA
8+ years of experience in operations, facility, or production engineering
Knowledge and application of commonly used codes such as ASME B31.3 and CSA Z662
Working knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry and facility design
