We are looking for a talented Senior Advisor to join our Strategic Integration team. This team plays a key role in progressing the electricity transition by balancing objectives of affordability, reliability, competition, and efficiency as Alberta's electricity sector is transformed by new technologies and decarbonization objectives. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Integration, you will lead cross-functional teams and help develop organization-wide strategic decisions. You will need to approach issues from multiple perspective including market operations, economic efficiency implications, grid operations, reliability, legal, policy, industry and stakeholder perspectives to form recommendations on strategies, potential changes or actions related to relevant areas.

Accountabilities include:

  • Lead cross-functional teams to build consensus, incorporate multiple views and gain alignment toward development of recommendations about policy and strategy.

  • Lead engagement with initiative leaders to identify issues requiring cross-functional awareness and collaboration to resolve. Create context for and prepare documentation to support governance processes.

  • Apply subject matter expertise, and input gathered from internal and external experts, to strategically determine priorities and work scope, ensure focused and relevant work efforts and resolve issues.

  • Apply effective project leadership practices and principles to drive solutions which achieve broad organizational objectives.

  • Lead engagement on critical objectives, solicit broad perspectives and employ creativity to develop and defend recommendations which balance trade-offs between complex and competing objectives.

  • Create effective stakeholder management and engagement​ strategies including developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and engaging with stakeholders as needed to inform decision making.

  • Analyze, understand, and communicate market, cost, reliability, operational or other relevant considerations resulting from transformative trends on the electricity system to apply future proofing lens to decisions being made today.

  • Coordinate, facilitate and document outcomes from internal and external discussions on relevant topics.

  • Utilize depth of industry knowledge to provide business strategy recommendations to division Director and VP to advance division and organizational goals, including fully formed implementation plans and risk management strategies, and be able to independently lead implementation of significant portion of approved plans.


You have:

  • An undergraduate degree in business, economics, policy, law, engineering or equivalent, or experience equivalent to degree or designation. An advanced degree is an asset.

  • 10+ years of specialized experience in electricity markets or energy policy.

  • Understanding of the relationship between legislation, regulation, and policy matters, in the context of the electricity industry.

  • Experience with development of organizational public policy positions, stakeholder strategies or regulatory processes.

  • Strong diplomacy skills, a proven ability to build trust and maintain relationships in a multi-disciplinary setting.

  • Experience participating in, facilitating or leading stakeholder consultations.

  • Experience working alongside government and public-sector agencies.

  • Effective writing skills

  • Change endurance and resilience in working through uncertain outcomes. Our environment experiences changing factors as the pace of change increases.
