SUMMARY
TransAlta is currently recruiting for a full-time permanent Project Engineer to support the Projects and Construction team for our on-going and upcoming renewables and carbon reduction initiatives across North America. The position will report an experienced Project Manager to offer guidance and mentorship to facilitate career growth and progression. This would be an ideal role for an engineer or technologist with experience in renewable or gas project development, design engineering, and construction.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Project Engineer, you will assist the Project Manager to ensure all aspects of project planning and execution meet the established requirements with respect to cost, schedule, scope, quality, health, safety and environment. Successful project execution requires planning for the end-state and involves sound front-end planning prior to the commencement of detailed design, procurement, and construction. You will also assist the Project Development group to implement a construction driven approach from project inception. This planning begins early in a project's lifecycle, typically soon after a project has progressed passed the initial project development phase and the preliminary business case for the project and a preliminary project development budget and schedule have been approved. Subsequent implementation of the plan through execution is key, including vigilant change management. Your responsibilities will conclude once the project has been successfully turned over to operations, entered commercial operation, and lessons learned have been documented and shared.
This is a full-time salaried, safety sensitive position. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment testing.
