Whether a project involves a small-scale interior renovation, retrofit of existing systems, the development of complex commercial, transit, or healthcare facilities, or matters involving compliance issues with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, our clients trust our expertise and professionalism.

We're looking for an entry level Project Consultant for our Building Code department who can provide technical assistance and work with a team of associates. If you're someone who takes your job seriously but also has a great sense of humor, we want you on our awesome team in our Calgary office.

The quest!

  • You will work on a variety of projects related to Building and Fire Code services and Code application ;
  • Represent LRI Engineering in all interactions with clients ;
  • Visit sites and attend meetings with clients
  • Review drawings and provide alternative solutions in compliance with building codes
  • Prepare reports and communications under supervision ;
  • Receive training to complete project types like Adjacent Property Protection Plans ;
  • Manage client expectations in terms of quality and schedule ;
  • Conduct fire protection analysis and research to support more senior staff ;
  • Identify and actively pursue business opportunities and contribute to marketing efforts as required.

What's in your bag?

  • Relevant degree in engineering or architecture ;
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience including design, construction, and code compliance, working on medium to large size residential, commercial, institutional and public projects e.g. hospitals, universities, malls, airports, towers, etc. ;
  • Knowledge of National Building Code (NBC) and Fire Codes (NFC & NFPA) ;
  • Analytical, time management, and organizational skills ;
  • Self-driven with a high level of initiative and resourcefulness ;
  • Versatile and able to manage varying workloads and competing priorities ;
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with project team members and clients ;
  • Able to obtain government security clearance ;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
