Position Summary

Reporting to the Lead, Methods, the Methods Change Management Agent will manage and execute complex Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) in our ERP System for DHC to support various aircraft programs and developmental activities. Assess impacts of design and process changes to production aircraft assembly, sub-assemblies, and detailed parts, while ensuring accordance with our quality standards, engineering requirements, and type specification design. Support Production, Design Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Supply Chain and other internal groups on solving relevant technical problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and authorize complex changes within the ERP System to ensure data integrity and information submitted in the change is accurate and compliant.
  • Create, task out, and manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for developmental changes to build, design and tools.
  • Perform impact assessments to design engineering changes prior to release.
  • Facilitate change harmonization meetings and collaborate with the necessary stakeholders as needed to build, complete and monitor the Implementation Plan as well as the ECN.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the Change Management/Change Control process across all aircraft programs, as well as acting Change Owner on developmental changes.
  • Create and revise supplemental documentation to fully define the agreed build sequence of the aircraft assembly and sub-assemblies.
  • Create Work Instructions (WI) under the Quality Management System (QMS) to define how Viking Manufacturing Processes are performed.
  • Record, submit, and manage ECNs for changes to build, developmental design, obsolescence, and tools required to improve efficiency and quality of builds, including solving non-conforming products.
  • Assign commodity codes to new Part Numbers resulting in Make vs Buy decisions
  • Deploy ECN related tasks to incorporate Type Design and Build changes.
  • Participate in investigations into technical issues, including assisting in Root Cause Analysis.
  • Consult with Liaison Engineering to initiate resolutions to build or design technical issues reported through the NCM Process.
  • Liaise with Design Engineering, Production, QC, Quality Engineering, Supply Chain, and external STC partners to develop resolutions and implement changes to technical or quality problems.
  • Audit the flow of paper trail to ensure any design change has been properly implemented.
  • Validate the Bill Of Material by applying investigation techniques of legacy build.
  • Participate in continual improvement initiatives including internal/external audits.
  • Represent and report on Change Management and Methods Engineering functions.
  • Engage in company initiatives/projects to increase production efficiency, change implementation rate, and reduce costs.
  • Assist in developing and rolling out technical skills training for manufacturing and assembly personnel to support the Quality Management System (QMS).

Education:

  • Combination of education and experience in aerospace manufacturing and/or engineering will be considered.
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer) considered an asset.

Experience:

  • 3-7 years of progressive hands-on experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Previous change or project management experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace engineering and manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and process design issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft engineering drawings.
  • Ability to perform impact assessment of changes applied to design engineering drawings

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge in MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate knowledge in engineering drawing interpretation
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate and document information using a computer and required software.
  • Ability to deploy, manage and influence multiple projects, tasks, and priorities at one time. Ability to work effectively either independently or collaboratively on flexible work assignments.
  • Ability to problem-solve complex situations by filtering, prioritizing, and analyzing complex and dynamic information.
